I see The Box music channel are getting into nostalgia spirit all month long starting today. It has the orginal logo on it and the music videos that The Box played. The team feel that with the downsize might be happening now The Box Plus Network is folding into Channel 4 as of September so they are digging up the vaults.

I wish they'd dig up some old idents and old editions of Box Talk, Box Tops, Box Fresh etc. That's if they even still have any.

They're showing old idents (just saw one coming out of a break), but are currently showing another music video from 2018.

The schedules are a mix, there will still be showings of the current playlists and the UKHotlist, but there's specialist blocks showing videos through the years, and 'The Request Show' putting together requested videos sent in from viewers (advertised over the last month via the 4Music Twitter and Instagram)

I still have videos full of songs I taped off The Box during the 1999-2004 period, sadly I only the recorded the songs I liked, not any of the in between bits like I mentioned above, I'd love to see them again. Especially Box Tops with the far too overexcited American voiceover man (before they sacked him and replaced him with Mitch from Live & Kicking).

Is it just the logo and branding or are they taking requests via a three digit code?

I looked at some archive presentation on YouTube and noticed one from 1999 from a US version of the channel, same then rounded blue box logo, but I wondered if it was a US idea brought across to the UK or vice versa?

The Box was a US channel originally launched as a local cable channel in Miami. It was brought to the UK by a former Radio Caroline executive who had seen the channel in the US and did a deal to launch a UK version.

The US version was sold to VIacom and was used to extend carriage of MTV2.

And that's why in the early days of the channel it was in NTSC quality, the equipment the cable companies, and latterly the national version on satellite, used was imported
