Yes - makes a nice change not having Ian around!

Thats almost as good as the News Room SE (I think), reporter whos name is Marcia Hughes. So her sign off is Marcia Huges, BBC News. Always raises a chuckle.

Well it seems it was a planned thing as he is there again today! Although not sure he is quite right presenting on a big news day such as this!

Just put on the 'One' to look at Bowen. He is by far the BBC's weakest anchor. He's just too laid back. Bowen often, like Sky's Gordon Radley, gives the impresssion he doesn't want to be there.

I think that they should get their recently-acquired Rachel Harrison to do the One O'Clock News. Or Heather McCarthy.

Yeah, Heather would be good!

Maybe they were trying out Bowen on the One to see how good he was on a main programme... George Alagiah must be on holiday! Maybe they are looking to bring another main presenter into the nationals team.

Just to remind you all, Jeremy Bowen isnt really a trained anchor or presenter, he was the BBC's Head of Foreign Journalism.

He's more used to reporting, or working at his desk.

So for that reason, i think he is ok, however, he could do with some more practising in front of a bbc mirror

Yes, but George Alagiah, Huw Edwards and Michael Buerk have all been correspondents rather than news anchors. He does just need practise at it!

He wasn't head of foreign journalism, John Simpson is World Affairs Editor. He was distinguished Middle East Correspondent - but one of the BBC's top foreign correspondents.

SkyNews
John Simpson once said that he never really understood why he was called 'editor', since he couldn't appoint anyone for instance!

Here's a picture of Jeremy presenting one of the short bulletins this morning.

Poor old Jeremy, he does look a bit lost in N6, but as Steve said he justs needs practise. The style of Breakfast is VERY different to a normal bulletin and it must be a bit of a shock for him.

Yesterday I was watching BBC 1 on lunchtime and it said, This is BBC 1 for the midlands, now the news at one with Jermey Bowen and Nick Owen

I was watching BBC News 24 this morning and in a story about the proposed OFCOM, it showed the N6 studio with Michael Buerk doing the 10 o clock News. It showed that he is the only one in the studio except for a camera/autocue and a woman at the side who operates a computer.

I've never heard about her/person on a computer before.
