After watching this programme, It reminded me in the days when I used to go to a place like that, A Camphill Rudolf Steiner related place with celebrations the outside world has never heard of such as Michaelmas (on 29th September based on harvesting and the community gathering together for a meal) and St John's (24th June, a celebration with a big fire), They don't have TV and only the radio for entertainment in a room(I only came on a day placement).
To last night's programme, Botton Village in North Yorkshire seems really nice and peaceful but it must be a fair long distance from a nearest town, It must have been a huge step for the guy who decided to leave the place after 25 years to face the outside world but he must be doing well. As for the others it sometimes must be a huge challenge when you get in your 40's and for the co-workers (young forgien voulenteers or longer and senior long term in which some are known as houseparents) who seems to have a life without TV.
I did go to Botton for a visit with freinds once when I stayed in a Camphill place.
