Channels version of the sponsor animation was badly cropped to 4:3 to start with, then they finally decided to do it properly in 14:9

That's odd, Granada's version is in normal 4:3 mode, though you can tell there was a tight squeeze on screen trying to fit Granada Weather sponsored by BMI Baby onto the same row of the screen. Though after 2002 the United Utilities sponsorships were in 14:9, but the Weather wasn't, though the only Regional weather in 16:9 is ITV London, when it isn't shown during the News.

So basically BMI/BMI Baby sponsor the Weather in the following regions....

London Weekend
ITV Wales
Central
Channel
Granada
Border
Tyne Tees
Scottish TV
Grampian TV

As said, it is very "Legal & General", but they had the better animation at the beginning of the opening titles.

As a matter of interest, who sponsors the weather in the regions not listed above?

Anglia have the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society. I don't think it's been that for long though, but before it was with no sponsor for a little while.

As mentioned 'ITV London Weekday'/Carlton have Topps Tiles as their sponsor, though I really liked the old Warner Village sponsor for 'London Weather at the Weekend'/LWT.

I think Yorkshire's weather is sponsored by an Insurance company or something, as is the case alot of the time. Though correct me if I am wrong.

Yorkshire weather is sponsored by Carcraft who have recently provided a special wintery version of its stings. Prior to that it was Budget Car Insurance - Smart People - Budget!

I doubt we will ever get BMI Baby sponsorship as they don't operate from LeedsBradford.

West and Westcountry are both Wessex Trains.

Wales have had BMI for over two years now, and you know they're not annoying yet at all.

Well, they don't operate from anywhere in the Border region, but they get them!

I guess people in Yorkshire could travel to either DTV/Teesside or Castle Donnington (EMA) easier than those in Lockerbie could travel to Teesside!

Meridian Weather is sponsored by Seafrance, and has been for several years. Before this it was P&O, which lasted until 2001 I believe, though don't quote me on that. I also know that it was AXA Sunlife at some point in 1998, but I have no idea how long that lasted.

Most of the Border region isn't served by United Utilities either..... but we still got the sponsorship!

I may be wrong, but is Granada and Border sponsorship sold as one, hence Border getting irrelevant sponsors?
