How long has their been a Border England and Border Scotland? I didn't know that it was a dual region until I saw the two entries on Sky.
When do these differences between them exist? I've watched a fair bit of Border, and haven't noticed even an optout from Lookaround. Digiguide has (I think) Border England schedules, and they will stop be opting out from GMG to show SMG's new years programme. So one of the few times a split is needed isn't being split!

The regions has been splitting some local news since around 1998.
At present, during (normal) weekdays - the 3.10pm news is regional - and about 7-8 minutes of the 6pm news.
When UEFA Champions League football was on - Border showed the English matches, while Border Scotland went with Grampian/STV for the Scottish matches.
Some Saturday and Sunday afternoons - Border Scotland show the Scottish sport programming. The next time I beleive is on 13th January.
The 3.10pm news is presented by the same presenter at the same time in both regions - but with different news.

A few years ago there was an outcry from the Border Scotland viewers that the rest of Scotland was getting to see important UEFA cup matches and Border wasn't. I think there was a reportabout this on Reporting Scotland but I can't be certain. Your lucky if Border Scotland opt-out at lease once a week from Border. When they do I think it's like Channel, a dirty feed from Scotish TV.
Quite surprisingly Border are showing the Hogmany (New Years Eve to all you English folk) line-up including 'Top of the Jocks', 'How to make a Hogmany Show' and 'A Capital New year', which goes out to the whole country from the ultimate party capital Edinburgh.

Well, as someone who lives in the Scottish half of Border, I can confirm there's really very little difference in the line-ups anyway. They used to do a lot more news-wise but now they very rarely even bother with that. You can quite regularly watch a full bulletin on Border England which is exactly the same as the Scottish version. This includes the 3:whatever opt and Lookaround.
I do remember a couple of the football matches being different... but again, this was a while ago.

Just checked with Border - and the regions are split for this evening.
England viewers will get the English programmes - Scottish viewers will join STV/Grampian.

Surely this isn't the first year this has happened at Hogmanay? Scottish celebrations start around 9, ITV1's don't commence until 5 to midnight (or if it's anything like ITV1 usually is it'll be 3 or 4 minutes to)! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/cheesy.gif
Mind you, England made the bigger deal of the millenneum (sp?) In Scotland it was just another ordinary New Year

No - the thing is that with the introduction of ITV on D-Sat - the whole of the UK has access to all 16 regions.
But nowhere appears to carry both Border regions - unless you have access to the listings magazines for that area.
No website (or digiguide) makes mention of it.
For the record - Border Scotland carries STV/Grampian programmes between 8pm-12.05am tonight!
