heh. how sad. and he talks about it as if the programme is brand new Rolling Eyes

What's sad about this thread? I know that it's not brand new, some editions of Boogie Beebies that have been shown recently, e.g. Cup Cake, Pirate Gang were made in 2004 (BBC MMIV). Others were made more recently, e.g. Brave Prince in 2006 (BBC MMVI).

I almost care. How old are you? Because judging by the way you speak of this programme, you seem like a regular viewer and fan.

Well I'll let you work that out, from my final point of my opening post:

Why couldn't the BBC have brought out a programme like this when I was a preschool age kid (circa 1973 - 1976). It's not fair!!

I knew your age, it was a rhetorical question. bit of sarcasm to show that I can't believe you're in your 30s if you behave like a fanboy over this programme.

How did you know my age?

Behave like a fanboy? Well cast your mind back to ten years ago, when Teletubbies first came out. Though it was primarily aimed at 2 to 3 year olds, I heard at the time it became a cult among university students.

*sigh* I knew your age from your first post. you know, the sentence you actually pointed out to me before?

And I really don't care about any students. Stop dragging this pointless argument on. It's cluttering the place up.

My lass's sister (think she's 21) never misses Boogie Beebies. But then she has TiVo. And like her sister is a dance teacher!!

Glad to see an adult is keen on Boogie Beebies. Just goes to show, it's evidently not just for preschool kids. By the way, what difference does having a TiVo make?

For those not in the know, the programme title Boogie Beebies is derived from Boogie (another word for dance) plus the Beebies part of the BBC's digital only pre-school channel, C Beebies .

I know CBeebies didn't launch until early 2002. However that's not to say the BBC couldn't have launched an equivalent when I was preschool age, circa 1973-1976 on BBC1 or BBC2.

Face it, in those days, BBC2 had loads of downtime during the day, with just test card F. Monday to Friday they showed the morning edition of Play School at 11am, and when that finished at 11:25, closed down (showed testcard) until the evening.

The exception was Wednesdays, when after Play School finished followed by a short interval they'd have the hidden programme (i.e. not listed in Radio Times or newspapers) "Service Information" aimed at the TV engineering trade. After that BBC2 closed down just like any other day.

BBC2 could have shown a kids dance show, similar to present day Boogie Beebies after the morning edition of Play School, at 11:25. The schedule could have been as follows:

11:00 Play School
11:25 Dance Show
11:40 Closedown

In the case of Wednesdays, Service Information would follow Dance Show, and the closedown would be after that.

I don't know but maybe it would help if this was in a generic CBeebies thread.

Why should Boogie Beebies be a mere part of a generic CBeebies thread? It deserves its own thread.

Take BBC2 Schools Landmarks. Here on TV Home Forum, that's got its own thread. It's NOT been confined to being part of a BBC Schools Programmes thread, has it?

Hop across to Digital Spy Forums. There you will find that Strictly Come Dancing has a whole forum, consisting of a vast number of threads. Evidently one Strictly Come Dancing thread in the TV Programmes forum was felt inadequte there. On the other hand, there are a few posts mentioning Boogie Beebies dotted about Digital Spy Forums (I found them over Christmas when I searched for Boogie Beebies there). Personally I think that, if Strictly Come Dancing justified a whole forum (not just a thread) on Digital Spy Forums, Boogie Beebies deserved a THREAD in the TV Programmes forum. After all, Boogie Beebies is a dance show (for kids), just like Strictly Come Dancing (for grown ups).

I therefore felt it worthwhile to set up this Boogie Beebies thread here, on TV Home forums. Boogie Beebies deserves a whole thread to itself here. It does NOT deserve to be confined to within a CBeebies thread.

Because it is a mere Cbeebies show. What's so special about Boogie Beebies?
