When I turn channel over I get an on screen message saying BBC1, Yorkshire Television, Channel Four Television, etc. It stays on for about 2 seconds and goes away.
when I turn BBC2 on I get the message BOBIGONS GOING. Does anyone know who Bobigon is or where he is going to.
Also does any one know who puts these messages on the TV? I have tried two different TVs and got the same message.
Do you have one of those TV's that has a Channel ID facility (quite a few do these days) it's something to do with the teletext signal I think.
And these days since the demise of ancillary teletext services it should just say "itv1" instead of Yorkshire...
No idea why you're getting a "Bobinogs" message... although recently I saw "BBC LONDON" on BBC ONE for a little while on my TV which has this facility. BBC TWO seems fine here now.
(EDIT: There's something very weird going on with the forums today!)
Maybe its a local transmitter problem (Emley Moor, perhaps) a quick (and very up to date!) Google on "Bobinogs going" reveals that someone else has spotted this too... and also that there was an episode of Bobinogs on Friday 11th March called "Going Shopping"...
So it looks as though the teletext signal might be picking up information from the EPG system or something... or maybe BBCi (online)... how odd!
Mind you, Nick Harvey did say the other day that regions are now feeding the news stories from BBCi through to Ceefax, so maybe there's been a mix up in transmission somewhere, but its only affecting some areas.
(EDIT: Is anyone else having really bad problems with this site today? I think the server's gone haywire!)
My Channel ID on the Analogue BBC Channels seems to have been playing up, the other day I managed to get 'BBC NEWS' and 'CLIFFORD THE BIG RED', I've also managed to get 'WILDLIFE ON TWO' once, I don't know why it does this.
Though ITV seems to be fine as the ID has 'Granada Television', C4 is 'Channel 4 Television' and five, well is 'five'
Yep, it's happening with the analogue television here as well, BBC TWO reads "Bobinogs Going". Funnily, I'm also getting "Sorkchire Tele isi n" for ITV1...
And these days since the demise of ancillary teletext services it should just say "itv1" instead of Yorkshire...
Well I think we discovered before that this is the case only in former Carlton-owned regions [London full time].
Hmmmm, is this BBC business just an English thing -- it always seems to be the same on Wales on 1 and 2, and I'm *very* attentive to these things you see.
Mind you S4C says something different nearly every time I turn it on [by accident you understand]. It also governs whether I am rudely disturbed by a high pitch squeaky tone or not after closedown.
