For me, Monkhouse on the Spot showcased how versatile he was and I was amazed at him being able to get a joke from virtually anything - even more so during the bit where he started and finished with words suggested by the audience - a true great.
My thoughts are with his family, especially at this time of the year.
This is news I've been dreading. He was my complete hero. As a performer, and as a man. The most talented, and the most loving and giving.
Not only has Bob died today, but a huge chunk of showbusiness has too.
I never got to work with him, but I did meet him once, and immediately, I could see why people who HAD worked with him called him the nicest guy they had ever met.
I'm gutted. There'll never be another like him. God bless him, and God bless Jackie and Abigail.
Although I'm not going to do the 'what a tragedy' thing, partly because the man irritated the hell out of me, you had to admire the genius of the Bob. His quick remarks and intense knowledge were outstanding, and I'd be a moron not have all but respect for him. I certainly was taken a back I heard he had died.
i am very sad to hear about bob, he was a great comedian and I loved Wipeout, I wish to convey my condolences to the Monkhouse family on their sad loss of Bob, he will be greatly missed from TV FANATIC
Truely Sad News on the passing of Bob Monkhouse. One of Britains best comedic talents has gone, BBC or ITV should show a tribute programme or a Bob Monkhouse Night. Such talent, and comedic genius should be rewarded and not forgotten.
Extremely shocking news this morning. I found out from Owen Thomas this morning, and it's fair to say there will be nobody else like Bob. He will be missed.
I was lucky enough to meet the man. I got the impression of a great man who had a lot of time for his fans, and unique sense of wit, combined with pin-sharp comedy timing.
Farewell Bob, we will miss you.
