..or appears to be, in a new advert promoting awareness for prostate cancer, of which the legend sadly died of, on 29th December 2003, four years ago.

This new advert is created by using archive footage of Bob along with a body double an a "sound-a-like" voiceover. However, it is bloody fantastic, not just because it is a funny advert with a serious message, but the advert looks so real, even Derek Acorah will be cacking himself in amazement.

Give A Few Bob and have a look for yourself...

It is amazing. When I first saw it, at the weekend, thought he must of recorded it before he died. Its that good.

His wife Jackie was interviewed on the Radio 4 PM programme last night and she is very pleased with the way it has come out.

Saw it on the news the other day, what an amazing feat to produce something with such accuracy; on first viewing I'm sure many people were more than a bit surprised and wondering how it was possible. And it's all worth it for promoting awareness of the cancer.

Quite possibly superior to any previous attempts at this sort of edit magic (for example that Gene Kelly one for the new Golf back in 2005) but this is advertising something a lot more worthy of attention. Well done to all involved.

Agreed, the word legend is greatly over used but in Bob Monkhouses' case legend applies.

I saw it a couple of days ago and whoever made it is definably very talented.

On closer inspection, it is possible to see the trickery involved. You can tell when it is a quote of Bobs, and then the voiceover, for example...

VO: What killed me kills one man per hour in Britain
Bob: That's even more then my wife's cooking.. hahaha

Bobs voice seems to be a little bit higher then the VO's, and the VO's dialouge is alot clearer then Bob's, in which minor distortion can be heard. Also, when he says "prostate cancer, i don't recommend", t5hey try and fit the first two words into Bobs mouth as he is saying something else. The Vos final lines don't even see Bob on screen, before he smiles into camera, and walks away.

I still love the advert...

Fantastic advert. Originally I thought he'd recorded it before he died and planned for it to be aired in 2007.

Then how would the gravestone know he died on December 29th? Wink
