..or appears to be, in a new advert promoting awareness for prostate cancer, of which the legend sadly died of, on 29th December 2003, four years ago.
This new advert is created by using archive footage of Bob along with a body double an a "sound-a-like" voiceover. However, it is bloody fantastic, not just because it is a funny advert with a serious message, but the advert looks so real, even Derek Acorah will be cacking himself in amazement.
Saw it on the news the other day, what an amazing feat to produce something with such accuracy; on first viewing I'm sure many people were more than a bit surprised and wondering how it was possible. And it's all worth it for promoting awareness of the cancer.
Quite possibly superior to any previous attempts at this sort of edit magic (for example that Gene Kelly one for the new Golf back in 2005) but this is advertising something a lot more worthy of attention. Well done to all involved.
On closer inspection, it is possible to see the trickery involved. You can tell when it is a quote of Bobs, and then the voiceover, for example...
VO: What killed me kills one man per hour in Britain
Bob: That's even more then my wife's cooking.. hahaha
Bobs voice seems to be a little bit higher then the VO's, and the VO's dialouge is alot clearer then Bob's, in which minor distortion can be heard. Also, when he says "prostate cancer, i don't recommend", t5hey try and fit the first two words into Bobs mouth as he is saying something else. The Vos final lines don't even see Bob on screen, before he smiles into camera, and walks away.
