Bo' Selecta......

...is back.

Looks like Avid and his rubber masked chums are back for a fourth series of Bo' Selecta which is set entirely in the USA. Wikipedia mention it will air later this year, though I was told it'd air in October.

It starts next week. Already 2 series too long IMO

Ch4's Friday night line-up is incredibly dire at the moment. The worst show has to be 'Star Stories'. It's incredible that whoever commissioned this thought "yeah this is brilliant....imitating Posh & Becks - K-RAZY"

I find bo selecta a bit too dire to watch. The first time I saw avid merion he was presenting 100 best number 1s or something to that effect. I could not work out who he was or why he was dressed in silly masks because i'd never seen his show before.

He also made some pretty crass remarks about the late Princess of Wales whilst introducing Elton John's remake of candle in the Wind.

He's also pretty rude to his guests which in my view is unprofessional not funny, would you like me to invite you round to my house to tell you to f##k off?

According to next week's line up, Bo' Selecta isn't next week. "Whatever" is being replaced by a double bill of My Name Is Earl.

The first couple of series of Bo Selecta were funny, but after Series 3 which was plain dire, it's just nothing but the same recycled gags and stalking 'shaylabritiees', the series should have stopped ages ago.

When Leigh Francis appeared on The Frank Skinner Show a couple of years as himself rather than Avid Merrion, he was alot funnier and darker.

As a fan, the change of format in the third series brought the show down heavily. Seeing as they are filming in the USA and with a new name, I have a feeling the format will change again.. for the worse.

Wasn't he featured in the South Park episode "Cartoon Wars"?

I have that show on video, and I can tell you that he doesn't.

Why do all of the masks wear glasses? Has anybody else but me noticed this?

You're not the only one. It's either something Leigh decided to add to the characters or it's supposed to disguise his eyes better. It's alot more noticeable when the glasses are removed.

Bo' Selecta has had it's funny moments...but largely, IMHO, it's just a bit too weird to be funny...sort of how the League of Gentlemen went in the 3rd series - just not watchable.
