Home Secretary David Blunkett will answer questions on the Harry Potter novels in quiz show Mastermind. He will appear in one of three celebrity editions of the John Humphrys-hosted quiz, to be screened on BBC Two later this year.

Mr Blunkett said facing Humphrys on Radio 4's Today show "will, I'm sure, seem like a picnic in comparison". Comedy actor and director Stepehn Fry and EastEnders' Shaun Williamson will also feature among the guests.

Fry will answer questions on Sherlock Holmes, while Williamson - who plays Barry Evans in the soap - will specialise in questions on actor Richard Burton.

Other guests scheduled to appear include Poet Laureate Andrew Motion, TV bird watcher Bill Oddie, journalist Jeremy Bowen, newsreader Julia Somerville and writer and broadcaster Germaine Greer.

As usual, contestants in the famous black chair will face a round of general knowledge questions in addition to their chosen subjects.

A celebrity edition of Mastermind was first broadcast last year.

I went to see this being recorded last Sunday and made entertaining viewing. The edition with Blunkett has Shaun Williamson (Barry), Jeremy Bowen and Antony Warwell Thompson.

Highlight the blanks below to see who won:

Arrow * Shaun Williamson * won. He was tremendous
Arrow * Antony * came last. Not an amazing performance.

Look out for me in row two behind Blunkett, if you want.

Just lets leave it ok. I saw the article on BBC News Online and thought it worthy of discussion, and believed it had added interest as I was fortunate enough to see the recording.

Blunkett was on form that evening, and despite the obvious political questioning going on, he came out quite well.

I wouldn't normally have a problem and in fact, don't really.

It's just the amount of conviction you displated towards me in the past for doing such things was quite large, I was surprised at the apparent hipocracy...

OK, water under the bridge, etc, etc...

Sounds like a good show coming up then.... There will be no excuse good enough if I don't get all the Harry Potter questions right!

Did David Blunkett take his guide dog up to the black chair?

Yes. 'Barry' helped him there and back. Very well behaved dog. If it was barking, we might be lead to believe of something naughty going on!
