The fact that Matt is presenting the one show this evening and can't be there probably shows how much the BBC actually care about this...

Having watched a few episodes lately, I cannot bear the studio presentation - far too shouty, like any other kids show, without the gravitas that Blue Peter should bare. Today is no exception, it's a mess, and some of the former presenters look embarrassed.
And yet Lindsey and Radzi are quite tolerable when they're out and about on assignments. It feels more like proper Blue Peter then.

Out of all the presenters I expected to be there it would be Matt, considering he’s still firmly on the BBC pay roll.
It’s strange they made a point of getting so many ex presenters together but fell short with such an obvious one.

Matt B isn't there, doing the One Show

No, but they could have easily found someone else to present the One Show, allowing Matt to appear on Blue Peter.
He can't be there in Salford and an hour later be in London to do The One Show...

If only there was some way he could have appeared live on
Blue Peter
in Salford, yet remained in London, perhaps via some kind of audiovisual tranmission system.

And how old are you?

Yes, I remember that too. Quite a big deal seeing presenters getting animated! I loved the out-and-about features they had, the one that always sticks in the memory was the lovely Katy Hill visiting a school with only one pupil.
I can remember the Dennis The Menace episode which had him appering on Blue Peter withKaty Hill and Stuart Miles playing thesmelves, and they had a lot of attention around it at the time.
It was still being repeated by the CBBC channel 10 years later, which must have confused the hell out of the kids watching then who wouldn't have been old enough to remember them presenting.

I didn't watch today's tribute, but caught an episode last week where the whooping and cheering from the guys on the studio floor are way too much when one presenter throws to another to talk about something remotely serious.
This may be part of modernising BP to throw off the middle-class tag it had, but it seems way too much.
