Well be fair Simon, BBC2 have had a new ident each year which they've added to their little collection.

BP legend Margaret Parnell got her first credit in ages on today's show, thanks to the return of a classic make - stick puppets in yoghurt tubs.

Didn't somebody mention that there wouldn't be another one added this year?

I'll dig around for the quote...

...and as if killing of Ceefax wasn't enough...

Times change. We can't hold onto Ceefax forever. It's like saying I want to stick with my x86 Win 3.1 PC because it was better back then Smile

But there are other visuals they can show, chasing ratings for a five-minute slot at 1:55am is beyond laughable.

Personally speaking, if they have 5 minutes to kill. They would be better off sticking on a 5 minute filler programme than putting Ceefax on for 5 minutes.

There was a time when BBC1 had 5 minutes to kill and on some occasions they would fill 3 minutes with trailers, a long ident for around 30secs and then treat us to a 90 second BBC News 24 countdown leading into the main event itself. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a 90 second countdown (!) but I would rather see a 5 minute filler programme than drag it all out to fill the time.

As for the Ceefax thing, I love my Ceefax but I feel that it's time to move on and leave Ceefax to something you press on a remote... while it's lasts!

There's one alternative they obviously never considered. A slide advising us "BBC News 24 follows shortly" and some nice music!

Yes but that would have worked a decade or two ago. If I saw that caption now, I would probably be turning over and guage my interest somewhere else on a different channel and therefore losing my on the existing channel as there was nothing to dazzle my eyes at probably 2am!

Maybe you should try going to bed...that's where most people are (and I should be!) at 2am.
