Blue Peter presenter collapses

Blue Peter's Gethin Jones needed medical treatment after he collapsed during an extensive workout with Kevin Mitchell.

Jones had been filming a segment for the children's show in which he tried a strenuous workout with boxer Kevin Mitchell and his personal trainer, Paul Cook. However, medics had to attend to the presenter, who is a keen rugby player, after he began to feel extremely unwell during the exercises.

A BBC spokesperson said: "He felt extremely unwell [during the workout], so an ambulance was called.

"But the medics decided Gethin didn't have to go to hospital and he's fine now."

Viewers are expected to see the workout when the episode of the show is aired.

The BBC spokeswoman said: "We expect it to be part of his full report."



Will be interesting to see how much Blue Peter show, conscidering the age and sensitivity of their viewers.

It was shown as part of yesterday's edition and from the actual report it didn't look as if he collapsed at all but only had exhaustion. The hospital bit was only briefly mentioned and lasted around 15-30 seconds at the most.

sometimes i think bp presenters are pushed to the limts for the programme which does not set a good example to the younger viewers who may get them impression that you have to over exert yourself

Quite right. I got all my ideas for childhood from Blue Peter. I was strutting around calling myself Bonnie for quite a while.
