Yep - what's going on with the new tune - ditching Barnacle Bill ??

New gfx package a definite improvement - and both new presenters definitely seemed to have something. Kit film not at all bad - though some of the scripting and location links wouldn't have passed muster in the old days (don't think a BP presenter would have been allowed to talk about "these children" (or was it "this group of children" - they'd have been expected to be more inclusive)

Studio still feels like a broom cupboard - and it now just feels and looks like every other cheap and cheerful kids show. The old BP studio had a much greater feeling of ambition and space...

Real shame - it does still feel like they're trying to kill it rather than relocate it to Salford...

Do you think the sig tune change is a cock-up caused by nobody hearing the difference, or people jumping to conclusions. (Most people assume BP's theme IS the sailor's hornpipe...)

I think the new titles are awful.

The logo looks way too grungy.... Bring back Titles like we had in 2004 or the 1999 ones...they were so much better

It is Barnacle Bill - just a heavily rocked-up version of it.

Back to their old ways today with bloody Strictly plugs. Notice everything is referred to as "adventures" too, which is rather annoying. And intriguingly, no mention at all of the plans announced today for the 50th birthday.

The presenters though seem a decent choice - just a shame the same can't be said for the editors.

Excellent use of old branding on a trailer for the new website on the CBBC homepage right now.

It’s defiantly a “rocked up” version of Sailors Hornpipe. As stated earlier in the thread, they are similar tunes, so maybe an error rather than a deliberate attempt to change something else.

D'oh!

Either way, the main hook is practically the same, so it's still recognisable as the BP theme tune.

They're both variations of the same melody so it's probably just a case of them changing a few keys and it ended up sounding more like Sailors Hornpipe. There have been versions of the theme in the past which has had elements of Sailors Hornpipe in it. I think the jazz version used in 1992?
