It seems rather foolish to give the only female presenter a challenge which sees her unable to host the show for nearly two months. If Andy is leaving they'd have been wise to bring in a (female) replacement and introduce her to the show whilst Helen is doing her challenge - back in the old days they always bought the newest host in a few months before who they were replacing left.

Andy isn't leaving, the only person who's said he is is some kid who's stuck it on Wikipedia. Possibly the same kid that in 2008 stuck two completely made-up names on the presenter list before Joel and Helen were announced.
As for Joel's challenge, even if it's not physical it can still be challenging in other ways. There's a hint in the Radio Times billings for next week, I reckon.
I haven't seen Blue Peter for a few years now. Have they got two cats and two dogs nowadays? I remember reading around three years ago that there was a fix involving the winner of the name competition for the new kitten and this had caused a lot of problems.
Cheers for the link - I thought they had two cats now but I didn't realise they now three dogs. When I last saw Blue Peter around four years ago I noticed how the style of the programme had changed - the presenters seemed a lot less patronising compared to the early 90s and generally more "trendy" - if that is the right word.
