Andy's the worst of the three at the moment, if I'm completely honest.

I have for you some potentially disatrous, or potentially brilliant news.

Andy Akinwolere will leave Blue Peter at some time during 2010. My initial thoughts will be that he will complete the current series.

This raises questions about the future of Blue Peter. (again) For the last 2 sereis, Blue Peter has been very consistent but with Andy's 4 year stint coming to an end, the presenting team will be rocked slightly. The main concern at the BBC is that Joel and Helen only have 2 years experience on the show. This may pave the way for another revamp in Sept 2010, as far as the set is concerned as the current graphics are only 2 sereis old, so again, the consistency of the programme will be upset. However, this revamp with an almost brand new set of presenters could be fab news for the show, to help it reinvent to become more modern. The BBC Trust has announced that there are plans for Blue Peter to retrun to its 5pm time slot in 2 years time.

I don't think that's bad news at all - IIRC he'd only been there a year himself when the others jumped ship (pun completely intended!). Not watched it at all this series actually, but from what I saw last year Joel and Helen were clearly the better presenters, and indeed if it remained twice a week they could get away without replacing Andy, but I do think for the long term future that third host needs to be bought in so if Joel or Helen quit in a year or so, new blood is already in place. I'd like to see it back to three times a week myself - must surely be cheaper for the BBC than commissioning an extra show to run in the slot another day.

I hope they do bring in another presenter; as small as the current set is, it will completely drown Helen and Joel!

So it's the time of year again when the Ultimate Challenges return. They were started last year and were the shows biggest success imo. It involves the presenters partaking on an ultimate challenge that will take a few weeks to complete and allows viewers to track their progress ect.

Tomorrow, Helen's challenge will be revealed. I have been kept in the dark about this. I only know what the viewers have been told:
- 6,000 miles away
-6 weeks to complete it
-will be making headlines
-will be coming live from the news room tomorrow
-it will test her to the limits (obv! Very Happy )

So your guess is as good as mine! Sounds rather ambiguous!!

The problem is with these "Ultimate Challenges" is that they actually end up diluting the whole concept of a presenter having an ultimate Challenge, especially as if last year all three have these assignments.

Blue Peter in the past had filming assignments which had 'light and shade' i.e. high obtain reports and slower non sporty films. This therefore made the "Ultimate Challenge” in the past stand out.

Let's hope they stop these ‘top gear’ style assignments of recent where nearly every film seems to have to be a race.

Seems that Levell’s old colleagues’ at Newsround have let the cat out of the bag:

her challenge sounds hardcore, even harder than last years seemingly impossible task!
The newsround feed for you...

Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton is set to start her biggest challenge ever - kayaking solo down the Amazon River.
She'll be paddling an incredible 2,010 miles, and if she succeeds, she'll be the first woman in history to kayak down the Amazon on her own.
Helen will have to paddle 60 miles a day for the Sport Relief challenge.
"People say it can't be done, but worrying about it won't make it any easier or the distance any shorter," Helen said before she left.
"A couple of months ago I'd only sat in a kayak once.
"It's a massive challenge but I'm hoping that if people see I am out of my comfort zone they'll be more likely to challenge themselves and get involved with Sport Relief," she added.
Helen's doing the challenge for Sport Relief
Helen will be battling all sorts of beasties on her adventure, including piranhas, electric eels, sting-rays and anacondas.
She's also bound to have blisters and back ache from rowing.
Helen will also set a world record for the longest solo journey by kayak, if she finishes it.
Helen started her journey on 20 January near a place called Nauta in Peru, and is due to finish six weeks later in Almerim in Brazil
