Thanks for that info bpmikey, do you know if the show will still be based in TC2?

Yes, the show will be in TC2 occasionally but mainly in TC3, which is slightly bigger and offers the set more flexibility.

I think the changes will really improve the current set, that looks aged depite only being redecorated last september!! Any thoughts on the new bits?

Sounds horrid.

The great thing about the Blue Peter set was.... anything could happen....

I suppose the great Richard Marson days were maybe the Blue Peter's flag ship days.

I doubt it is being used for the main programme - it isn't HD.

TC1 is usually the main home of Strictly, though it moves into TC4 (or TC8?) and is reduced in scale slightly (!) if it has to be displaced by Children in Need. (TC4 and TC8 are the other studios that are also fully HD)

AIUI TC2 is being used for Ready Steady Cook - which has moved to TVC and is now HD. TC2 has been temporarily upgraded to HD (by hiring kit in and installing it temporarily) for this.

ISTR that TC3 may have previously been temporarily upgraded for Eggheads to be shot in HD as well - but no doubt the kit for that will have been de-rigged once Eggheads finishes.

AIUI TVC is getting a lot of HD shows at the moment - I guess because the BBC is forging ahead with HD commissions, and other studios are lagging behind in their upgrades?

The new additions to the set will be:

New feature window looking out into the garden, to incorpoate the garden into the studio so that during winter months the garden is still a part of the show.

Presumably this will have to be a fake window (projector or PBU/Duratran) unless they are moving into TC9 (perish the thought).

Obviously none of the other TVC studios HAVE windows - and even if you could do something with a studio door you wouldn't really be able to see the garden from the doughnut - it's behind the restaurant block.

No, the title sequence and the trailers were filmed in TC3. The series won't be.

Yes, it is a fake window

That isnt true. Mable and Lucy are fine.

But with one foot in the grave - they just seemed to be slumped at the front of the set throughout the last year or two, they're certainly getting on. Wouldn't surprise me if they were to get a new dog and retire them.
