I've recorded the Joel's directing video from the Red Button feed if anyone's interested, I'll upload.

Thanks dbl, that would be great Smile

Is that on the red button all day Brekkie or just during BP?

Also, are they in studio 3 during that?

It's on for the next few days according to the Press Red blog. The main picture is Joel in the gallery, but there is a shot of the studio and shot of what was going out on air at the bottom of the screen too.

I thought this week, Blue Peter has been amazing, really on top of its game. The set looked gret also, especially so today (17th June) while we had a hunge look around the set and backstage areas on tuesday's show.
I think the current Blue Peter, although different to how it was, is now it's own consistent brand.

Brekkie
It has improved significantly since Helen and Joel joined, and feels like Blue Peter again.

At last, BLue Peter has returned. It's been a long time coming but they've made it! I feel all nostalgic now!! Laughing

Put The Telly On
I saw a bit the other day where Helen was driving the world's smallest car outside TVC complete with Blue Peter logos/banners. That felt nostalgic but then I haven't seen the show properly for years.

You can watch him do the full show on the red button too - surprisingly interesting.

Interesting that they've employed a presenter who would appear not to have come through the media student route, otherwise you would have expected him to have been a bit more comfortable with directing. (Not implying that they should have done so, just that many younger presenters seem to come through such a route)

The vision mixer was taking shots without being directed to, and Joel wasn't directing the cameras at all. I presume it was either very well rehearsed/scripted or there was somebody else *really* directing it. Interesting nonetheless.

Also interesting that they kept in the comment at the end about having to re-record the whole thing, admitting that some BP programmes are pre-recorded.

..or perhaps the vision mixer has some common sense and chose the shots himself based on Joel's lack of instruction? He isn't merely a button pusher is he?

Most viewers know that only 50% of the program in live anyway, so admitting it is pre-recorded isn't that much of a shock to anyone really.

Lets have our annual forum guessing game on 'Where are Blue Peter going this summer?'
My guess is either some where up north of the planet, in Asia somewhere or most probably Australia or places like malasisia or indonesia. I expect it'll be a country with extremities like the very poorest town and rich cities.
Phew, I've practically named every destination.. I hope don't lose.

The prize for the winner..... Um.. pride?? You can have your name on the TV Forum Hall Of Fame! (just pretend it exists!) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Im guessing.....Russia? After the Eurovision, could investigate oil, temperatures, cultures, history, could be good. That's of course if they even are going abroad this year, knowing the credit crunch they could be filming in Margate (heaven forbid) Very Happy
