Never mind slack Ellis - I still remember Michael Sundin who was sacked for having done man on man porno on a trampoline. True story - good video, too.

AIUI this wasn't the case - he'd already left the show when his "adult" video became public. (Don't think the "adult" stuff involved a trampoline did it? He WAS a championship trampoliner before joining BP - and did trampoline stuff with the RAF on the show)

Biddy Baxter's official stance on this appears to be that the kids didn't warm to him, and his contract wasn't renewed. (Though there had been complaints, apparently, that he was too effeminate on-camera). Biddy has apparently stated in relatively recent interviews that his sexuality wasn't the reason his contract wasn't renewed.

Quote:

Sadly he took his own life some years later.

I'm not sure that is correct - I understood he died from an AIDS-related illness, though initially this wasn't acknowledged in public.

I must have been misinformed about his death. It was such a long time ago I can't recall who said that to me. I hope its not inappropriate to say that I am somehow relieved to know that he didn't take his own life.

As for his adult film - well that was reported in the newspaper a month or two at most after he left - so I find it difficult to believe that's not the reason he was let go.

I had a terrible crush on him - and I kept the newspaper article for some years after as it contained a picture of him.

Yeh I noticed that as well tonight. Almost like someone finally noticed that they had made a new version of " the wrong theme tune " and went some way to correcting the end.

BTW I bought the 50th anniversary book and it's amazing how many ex presenters left on not too good terms.

Still IMO a lack of Michael Sundin pictures, just as there was in last Saturday's documentary.

Hate it when they decide to tweak something a few weeks into the new look. Wrong tune or not, it sounded better last week.

Hmm, is there anything you're happy with? Wink

Personally I think it's good they changed altered it slightly to the "correct" theme.

Same here actually. I cant forget that classic mix by Stomp! though, I never remember it not having any of the Blue Peter theme tune in though? Its a shame those clips arent that full, but even the full 1994 Stomp mix I have is just that type of bed. Anyone remember if any tune was used during this era?

Ah, I now hear the proper difference between the two tunes - however, I don't think it was that important to change it as it was so close. I like the change though.

Hmm - does suggest that the use of Sailor's Hornpipe rather than Barnacle Bill was a mistake doesn't it? (HOW can a show running that has run for that long end up with a senior production team who don't know their own theme tune???)

I was thinking that myself, don't tv people have any pride in the work they do (present company excepted Gavin Wink )

The Blue Peter tune is hidden in amongst it.
