Something made me laugh about this sentence:
Erm... so John Noakes was a woman was he?

There's a nice page on the BBC News website which includes the few minutes of Konnie starting all those years ago.

Huq is the 50-year-old show's longest-serving female presenter, beaten only by 1970s host John Noakes.

I agree it was a dreadful show

Appalling send of for Konnie - one of the worst presenter leaving shows I've seen, seemingly more interested in promoting Prank Patrol than looking back over the last 10 years.
No surprise studio guests - and no tears! After ten years, you expect bloody tears!

Must admit I never really liked Konnie that much... awful presenter - but not as bad as the God-awful Anne Foy!

It also makes it sound like Konnie is 50.
That send-off show was televisual diarrhoea. It was completely and utterly awful in every sense of the word, and an insult to the service Konnie has done to the show.

Where have the years gone? She's certainly the last of my generation.
Bye bye Konnie. Sorry to hear she got a bad send off.

I think all presenters in the past had always received some sort of album containing pictures of their Blue Peter highlights, but of course that would have been too traditional for the new editor.
In my view Konnie was not a bad presenter, but was neither one of the programmes’ greatest. However she stuck it out for ten years and her leaving programme was an insult to that time. In recent years Simon, Matt and Liz’s leaving programmes featured former guests and presenters often done in a “This Is Your Life” style. What went out yesterday was typical of the new format, a “surprise” challenge were the other presenters made a make of a “beanie” Konnie in “Generation Game” style and that tacky “Prank Patrol” filming assignment, which according to BBC News, she was not too impressed by as her final film.
Her “If we bother to make a Christmas card this year” gag last December and her comments regarding the totalizer, Advent Crown and garden being her favourite elements of the series maybe suggest that she was not too happy post Richard Marson.

What was the Christmas card gag? I'm not aware of that, but I hope that she said something like that live on air!
Appalling send off... I was gobsmacked we got the "Hello there / Hello / Hello..." etc. intro a la 40th anniversary edition. I was expecting any reference to her longevity to be wiped.
I agree, it was a disgrace that there was no commemorative book - most presenters have had them, certainly in the last 10 yrs or so. Poor Konnie.
