Matt Baker has just announced he is leaving the show.

No surprise as it has been rumoured he will leave for a few months now.

That will leave Konnie Huq as longest serving presenter now. She's been there since '99 or earlier as far as I remember. (I don't watch Blue Peter)

1997 actually. I remember her first show. She's the second longest serving female presenter now, behind Valerie Singleton. Another 4 year, and she'll overtake John Noakes!

I wonder if she'll still be there for the 50th anniversary in 2008. Probably unlikely now that she's now the last remaining presenter out of her, Simon, Matt and Liz, but it's possible.

It's incredible that she's been there since 1997, which despite only being 9 years ago was still a very different place. If someone emailed the CBBC studio, it'd be a novelty, not the norm!

1997, that was the year i STARTED secondary school. Didn't realise Konnie has been there that long.

Well at least he's doing something interesting after leaving.

Katy Hill was in an advert the other day, haven't seen her for ages.

A real shame Matt & Meg are leaving... Matt was a very good presenter.

Matt was great, as was Liz. In fact, apart from Richard Bacon, I think they have all been pretty good recently.

Speaking of Bacon, ever listened to his radio show? Is it me, or does something make him come across as very smug?
