ITV don't like half-hour quiz formats any more so I can't see them taking the option.

They did a half hour prime time quiz earlier this year. Britain's Brightest Family?

Surely a better vehicle could have been found for Anne Hegerty than that, in fact it looked like the sort of thing you'd see on the CBBC Channel, two parents and their in-charge sprog.

I believe the format has been tweaked and a second series is on the way.

I don't know if you were being serious or not, but i think Ashens would be great for something like this, in the same way Richard Ayoade worked for Crystal Maze . When Simon Mayo was announced as the previous Blockbusters host, i half expected him to be the kind of personality he is on the Kermode and Mayo show on 5 Live. Sort of half-mocking, half-don't give a crap. Ashens speciality.

Since we''re speculating on hosts, how about Tom Scott who has not only appeared on Blockbusters (and Only Connect) but has already hosted at least one gameshow on his YouTube channel, the strangely fascinating Lateral:

Based on what's gone before, it's probably going to be granted that the opening titles will probably involve flying hexagons across some sort of dystopian future city (which is the better known classic opening as opposed to what it originally started with).

Do we know which network this is for yet?

It will be announced in due course but it’s a surprising one. I’m still trying to figure it out.

I know that Fremantle no longer own Channel 5, Viacom do, but I wonder if Channel 5 is the location for this programme?

Something like this would do nicely (with better musical arrangement). Is the guy that made this on here? Pretty impressive to say the least. I bet they mess it up and butcher it in reality.
