Did the original programme end the series on a cliffhanger or did they tidy things up and have someone win or lose the 3/5 gold run and then start afresh on the new series?
According to the announcement at the end of Family Fortunes, tonight is the last episode of Blockbusters. Challenge[TV] are known to play the wrong announcement though, so who knows if it is true?
It still got 4 weeks left. Maybe it last one of the week?
Challenge[TV] have confirmed on Facebook that they will be starting from episode 1 again on Monday and will probably show the rest of the episodes in July.
Oh....I thought this was going to run for 8 weeks. So we've gotta wait ages then for this 'Celebrity' special as well then....
It's not like Challenge has stacks of other new shows that it wants to air either.
Which is exactly why they want to make Blockbusters last as long as possible and not waste them all at once. It would have been better if they showed them Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or something though.

The original Bob Holness series generally ended as any normal show during the week would end. I remember one particular series (around 1989 or 1990) ending with the double team in the middle of trying to continue their reign as champions, but when the next series returned in the autumn, there were brand new contestants with the show starting from scratch as the champions had left to go to uni.
So Autumn return was the announcement at the end of the show.
At 1st I thought this was silly thing to do stop it for the summer but as has been pointed out there is Euro 2012 just starting then there will be Wimbledon and then the Olympics and probably other stuff as well.
I have always felt a bit sorry for the person coming in when the opponent/s are going for a 4th or 5th gold run as they have had plenty of time to settle in and if they have seen off 3 or 4 people or pairs already.
I wonder though (and Ill spoiler tag it for those who have not seen the show yet)
If the Blues had not got things wrong with the direction they had to fill in that deciding game, would we have had either their final gold run or the whites 1st? Or would we have had more padding to leave a cliffhanger to entice us back in the Autumn?
If you go to this URL you can play the Blockbusters game with a debug panel over it. I haven't seen it display anything yet though, let me know if you get it to do anything interesting. You can also change the build number at the end of the URL to make the game look slightly different.
The game goes straight in to the Gold Run most times.
It's. abit hit and miss for ratings, saying that challenge did very well o that Friday with 8-11 slot all in the top ten.
Mon, Tues disappeared ..... yet wed and Thursday come back.
