0:44 - 0:45, I hear the note at the start of the bar has been changed - taking the bass as the reference, now stays in F instead of moving down to D. It doesn't sound quite as good that way - but all the same, it's still a very nice reworking.

(That sounds a bit picky, I know... Having heard the original arrangement quite a bit over the years, that part naturally registered as a wrong note to my 'music ears' - I guess I shall have to re-train them...)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I wonder how they actually re-created the theme, it if was midi based with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) with samples or proper instruments used.

Bit of a mixture of all three previous efforts - has the globe/Earth from the original Bob, along with some hexagonal shaped structures; it has the head from the Aspel, and it has the swishy futuristicness of the Liza.

Could have been a lot worse, let's face it. All in all, not bad, and I expect a fuller version has been recorded as well.

It has, Challenege did say to me on Facebook an extended version might be available to download at a later date, not a full 3 minutes like the original but extended all the same.

I hope there give it out the full 34 sec version Embarassed Wink I have listen / watched it again, I do like it, but it does seem there cover EVERY single titles created, were there covering all the bases? Didn't someone say there played out the full close?

Big question Who was the composer? 1983, 1994 Sky v1, and 2000 Sky V2 were all done by Ed! The BBC version I cant remember who did that it was meh!

I'm 99% it'll be sampled.

Ed Welch is the composer of the new version as well. At the recording I was at the credits were played out and it said 'Music By - Ed Welch'....

Just had another look at the titles and noticed the 'All New' bit, hopefully that isn't on the actual titles when the series starts....

It will be, but will disappear in repeats in years to come. Comedy central does it with half the comedies.

Are you sure that that doesn't just mean he composed the original tune and not that he's arranged this new version? For instance, Alan Hawkshaw is still widely credited as the composer of the Channel 4 News theme but the current themes were arranged by Phase Music. It's still Hawkshaw's composition though.

Exactly what I was going to say....Ron Grainer still gets a "theme" credit at the end of every Doctor Who despite it being umpteen versions later and being dead since 1981!

It certainly has the right kind of synthetic sound that the majority of his arrangements have had in the past.
