Just got in from this afternoon's shows, for me it was like being in 1993 again except a different host and updated set. Simon Mayo does a good job of it! The set looks superb. Was it always five gold runs in the orginal series? You don't really get to hear much of the theme as there's applause over it but from what I did hear, it sounded like a updated version of quiz wizard that's been posted in the bob thread.
They didn't roll the credits on the screens while the closing theme was playing so we'll have to find out whether Ed Welsh has done this version when it goes to air in May.

So there have gone back to Five gold runs?
* S1 ( 1983) - S6 ( 1988) IT Was five,
* S7 (1989) - S10 (1992 Or 1994 if you live in some ITV areas) reduced to Three Gold runs
* Sky 1994 it back at Five.
Money is on Ed doing it was well, he is the publisher.

What sort of level were the questions set at? What about the gold run questions? Did you get the impression that Challenge had made it more difficult to avoid giving away so many prizes like them seemed to on Bullseye? What were the prizes? Simon Mayo spoke of ebook readers as consolation prizes. Are we talking Kindles or some cheap Chinese knock off? Did you see any gold run prizes? How long were the episodes and how many did you see? Also, who was the warm up artist?
You don't seem to have mentioned the hand jive. Did you see a whole weeks worth of episodes?
It's five gold runs it seems now.
Also one of the contestents nearly called Simon Bob when requesting a letter!
I wonder if they'll keep it in the final edit?

He's like a really excited kid, tell him or he'll explode!

No mention of the hand jive. The consolation prizes are an e-reader. Prizes won in this afternoon's shows were a 24 inch HDTV and an access all areas pass for a theme park. The warm up man didn't give us his name but he did do a good job inbetween takes. He even had someone from the hair department chase him off the set!
The HDTV was a gold run prize.
Oh, and they do make sure that you turn your mobile phone off before going in to the studio so no pictures from me.

Isn't the board on the other side of the studio or do they have multiple boards?
The set is a repeclia of the original set (except a bit updated) The contestents desk is spot on complete with hexagons and Simon has the new blockbusters logo on his.

I believe it was Ray Turner, he also warms up for The Cube and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. (twitter post here:https://twitter.com/#!/Rayturner157/status/168255146684465153)He was pretty good and gives quite an amusing running commentary when they're setting up games or getting ready to film a segment.
I wish I got tickets now, I just wish it was nearer to me!
