Two months after the death of former presenter Bob Holness, it has been announced that Mayo will front a revival, set to air on Challenge TV in the spring.

No Radio Times, he died exactly one month ago today.
Radio Times posted:
No one needs to worry, it will be exactly the same — same set, same board, the same theme tune, although slightly updated.

Could you clarify something, Simon? Does this mean that Challenge have had to not only buy the rights to Blockbusters but the rights to the Central elements too?

There are very few tried and tested TV formats where you don't have to agonise over it. The great thing about it is everyone knows it works. It has a play-along factor."

I disagree, Simon. The programme has only really worked 33.333% of the times it has been attempted.
Radio Times posted:
Mayo also admitted he had already been asked for a P by contestants on several occasions.

Hello again Simon, I assume you are talking about contestants on Winning Lines rather than a show that you don't start recording until next week. Seems an odd thing for them to do.
Simon Mayo seems an inoffensive and adequate host. Some would say boring. I'll let you know what I think in the spring when I watch the show on Challenge or Challenge TV as the Radio Times calls it.

EDIT : Oh yeah. No mention of the hand jive in this interview. I would have asked about that first.

Central don't control blockbusters theme nor does *******...... ( its another STV type thing)

What? Are you swearing?

We hope that it will be popular not only with those of us who loved it the first time around but also with a brand new generation of fans. We might even bring back the hand-jive!

Might. That's good news then.

AS long as it only every 5 episodes Wink

It seems people at sky/challenge have click on how to do proper revamp of a classic show.

Yeah I'd be surprised if Central/ITV plc. have a claim to anything they could validly seek royalties for.

Or, to put it another way, in ten of the twelve years it has been broadcast.

Or 83.3333333%
