Was it a rouse to get more money then?

Also - is it Channel 4 or ITV who do the hiring and firing? It was ITV who took the rap for asking Vorderman to take a 90% cut, wasn't it?

That's not been suggested in any of the articles I've read about it.

Nick Hewer is the first person to present Countdown, it feels like he's actually the presenter of Countdown and not 'that guy we know for something else' presenting Countdown as Richard Whitley is no longer available.

o rly?

I sort of get what you mean though; he's not a known presenter but has a distinct personality.

With the other presenters, you felt they're in their element doing something else, Des O'Connor doing entertainment shows and more 'trashy' gameshows, and the other two football. It might have been just me but when ever I saw it with Jeff or Des L, they seemed to be talking to the contestants about the football team they support.

I don't have this feeling "of he shouldn't be here" with Nick Hewer. His role on The Apprentice has given him his cult like status, but I feel it's his appearances on other shows that have shown us there is more to Nick than a few funny looks and excellent one liners.

With Richard Whiteley it felt right for the show and the slot because he came across as an intellectual with a comforting warm personality. The other three just didn't quite sit right in the roll.

It's nice to see Susie Dent being part of the photo shoots now, I always felt sorry for her that she was not only overlooked when Carol was there but also when that young whippersnapper Rachael joined with Jeff.

I think Nick's reasonably good at addressing the camera he's certainly not terrible, and he'll get better, and the conversation is very entertaining

Can I ask Brekkie, if he's seen one of the episodes from later in the week and if so has your opinion changed?

I saw a bit of Friday's episode and frankly no - I found him pretty excruciating to watch.

I think usually people watch these remakes of classics out of curiosity but the novelty soon wears off.

I can't see anymore than the initial 40 episode order being made. It would be nice to be proved wrong though.

Take It or Leave It (game show) did get to 91 epsoides, but that was new format, but it was still a good gameshow.

Challenge only made 30 episodes of New Bullseye over two series in 2006 , so There must have more faith in this remake, but Challenge could have done more of bullseye but there some problems...

* Dave spiky CRAP host and was never good pick in the first place, there should have brought back jim even if he made mistake on radio.

* Prizes was missing white good. yes the prizes first time around were crap but there was always SOMETHING you needed for the kitchen in it.

* missing drum roll, and music etc for throwing darts.

* Set looked alright.

I credit Challenge for their Bullseye revival because, bar a factor or two, it stayed true to the original and looked almost identical. Look at The Krypton Factor and you'll see how a revival can be ruined by being changed too much.

But neither shows lasted very long. So I guess the lesson is - Reviving old shows, whether staying true to the original or not, is pointless?

They ruined the 2010 version of The Krypton Factor when they reduced it to four rounds. I was in the audience for one episode of the 2010 version to see how long the intelligence round really took only to find out they had ditched it.

Bullseye NEVER fully stayed true to the original, and that host did not help....
