I was just listening to Blind Date on ITV1 and Cilla said this would be her last series.

I can't really say i'm suprised, the whole format, despite the recent alterations is tedious - the people who go on their are so far up their own arses it's unbelievable.
In all the hundreds of shows, I think they've managed to get about one marrage out of it - and that was back in the early days.

I heard what she said - it's definite it's her last series; probably given the push as ITV to get rid of the show, along with Millionaire.

Millionaire was an excellent idea at the time, though - the mistake ITV made was to make it too regular, IMO.

I thought i heard her say that -then thought nah !! .
She denied that she would be leaving in the papers a few months ago .
I agree that the format is so boring we've had to put up with it from 86.
At least she'll have her OAP pension to keep her ticking over - i wonder how many lunches she and
Dale Winton will be able to have on the pension !!!.

Given how ill-matched most of the resultant couples are, I think it's a miracle they managed that many!
Back in the 80s, Ben Elton's stand-up routine used to include a joke about how Charles and Diana were so badly matched, they could have met on Blind Date...
Mind you, it's weird looking back on the early seasons; the average age of contestants is about the same as it is now, but the men all seem to be wearing jackets and ties and looking like middle-aged bank clerks!
