Speaking of Blank Screen, anyone remember the late-night interactive quiz show on ITV: Blank Screen.
My, how times have changed.
I actually thought this thread was about that! That must have been the first call TV show on ITV. Unfortunately opening the gates of drivel! It was strangly entertaining, esp the theme tune!

It was one of the first, but it was also a lie, as it wasn't a totally blank screen in the first place. Win £500, yes, send in a text with the answer, cost whatever, lines close Sunday at 5pm.

Just because a particular show doesn't have ad-breaks within it doesn't mean it serves no purpose.

If a blank screen were shown, the following programme, which might contain adverts, would inherit a much smaller audience, and thus probably be viewed by fewer people, meaning the adverts within the show were less desirable.

And more importantly - a blank screen would generate anything but "brand loyalty" and the channel would gain a negative feeling surrounding it, meaning viewers and advertisers would be less interested in it.

It simply isn't going to happen.
