Much more eloquently put than I managed. I think it was probably less obscure in the late 50s / early 60s, probably influenced by the wartime militaryspeak that many of its employees had been exposed to. This was only 10-15 years after the end of World War II.

Im new but i have a few ideas for bizarre BBC Regional News Programmes.

1) BBC Ethnic News
2) BBC North - East - East News ( ands that for the other reigons )
3) BBC Space News ( broadcast in space )

Tenuous link but did anyone see the shuttle launch today live on News 24 at 5.15pm? Phenomenal view from the onboard camera as you could see space appear in the top right hand corner - excellent!
