Digital Spy reporting that BBC Classic sitcom 'Birds of a Feather' could be making a comeback to our screens as all three stars, Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph seem keen for the go ahead of another new series.

Is it just me or is it becoming popular within the broadcasters these days to bring old programmes back?

It seems Ok to bring some programmes back but some broadcasters are in danger of going a bit over the top.

Keen meaning looking for work! LoL

How did the series end in the first place? And surely their husbands would be out of jail by now.

I wouldn't mind if they brought it back for a special or something. Bur I don't think it would be a good idea for a new series.

Now all they need to do is bring back Keeping Up Appearances and we're set for a good ole' night of telly!

I personally couldn't see that happening, as there was a Comedy Connetcions about it last year that said it was Patricia Routledge's decision to stop the programme, where as the rest of the crew wanted to carry on for another series.

What is it about bringing back old sitcoms? Haven't the BBC learned from Only Fools and Horses? Out of the three episodes, only one of them was good, and Absoloutely Fabulous wasn't as good as it once was.

I think it's more specific than that - it's the BBC. I just wish they'd learn the lesson from Only Fools and Horses. An outstanding series was ruined by an unwise comeback.

But then they bought back Doctor Who and it's a fantastic success.

OFAH is a different example altogether, as it had a firm finish, there was no way it could of come back without ruining it.

Probably the 15 year gap & different writers that made it fresh

There is a general trend towards nostalgia at the moment, though. Look at all the TV series that have made a comeback as films recently - Charlies' Angels, Starsky and Hutch, Hitchhiker's Guide etc. The BBC is only a part of that trend.

On the other hand, perhaps it just demonstrates a lack of ideas!

Althoughh would probably help ITV (shot by Mr Harvey for that suggestion)

The only sitcom that seemed to work again when it returned was The Vicar of Dibley at Christmas (currently on TV now).

I'd like to see Birds return but I'm afraid it might kill it for good. Confused

You mean "there was no way it could have come back without ruining it." . . .
