£27,398,675 raised tonight, with the Government matching bringing that total up to £54,797,350. Brilliant considering the circumstances.

Strange to reveal the total as an afterthought. Wonder of that is before or after every donation is matched.

Strange way to reveal the total with only some muffled studio celebrations as a reaction.

Blimey, Peter Kay did not look well there at all. He wasn’t his usual self larking about.

His bit was a bit poor, the old Amarillo video with all the disgraced celebrities replaced with videos sent on by the public.

I wonder how much he actually did except introduce it?

The Amarillo video was a bit of an in memoriam - Keith Harris, Jim Bowen, Geoffrey from Rainbow, Ronnie Corbett... at least Tony Christie's still around.

The only disgraced celeb in the original video is Savile, unless you count Danny Baker.

I found it interesting that they used clips from the original video with new background footage, they must still have access to the original recordings with the green screen.

They also used them in the "Raider of the Pop Charts" making of documentary in 2009 so they are clearly accessible

Catherine Tate and Little Britain were highlights. Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon were good as well

A tad weaker from Dawn French and Miranda, the Doctor Who bit was good getting all the doctors along, but they didn’t do much once they were there, and I’m not sure who the woman who wasn’t Jodie Whittaker was.

Jack Whitehall was ok, although the best bit there was being reminded of Bad Education, I might rewatch some of that this weekend

I’d usually say Peter Kay’s bit was phoning it in, but considering he looked like he was straining every sinew doing the short bit he did, he should be let off.

Tim Vine’s silly gags were funny, Nish Kumar was about as funny as the Daily Covid 19 update as per usual.

Strictly was shoehorned in as is written in the BBC charter.

Besides Ian Beale and Liz McDonald, I’m not familiar with the EE characters so I don’t really have an opinion.

The Paddy and Zoe bit was much better than the Matt and Davina bit.

Yeah I was exaggerating a bit, I could only remember Saville and assumed there were others.

I also wrongly thought that Tony Christie wasn't with us any more,
Blake Connolly and VMPhil gave kudos

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon were guaranteed to be good because The Trip is basically just the two of them (as exaggerated versions of themselves) trying to make each other laugh and doing impressions, so it didn't disappoint, especially when Coogan gets out his Mick Jagger impression.

Little Britain was one of the highlights, which I guess is why it was kept till the end, but at one point I think I was concentrating more on the impressive homemade costumes than the comedy! One to rewatch.

It's a shame Christopher Eccleston was the notable exception. We all know he's not on great terms with the BBC, but I'd have hoped this could have brought him back for a few words. But who knows, could be any number of reasons why he couldn't appear at this time.

Jo Martin played a mysterious not-yet-placed incarnation of the Doctor in an episode earlier this year. General opinion was that she was done more justice by the writing in one episode than Jodie Whittaker has been in two years...
