I think Davina knew she'd gone too far with enquiring as to who she would share it with.
Another year another series over. I think BB has come full circle now - the back to basics idea was good (reminiscent of BB1, letting the housemates provide most of the entertainment) but I do think it has had it's peak, partly due to various viewer complaints, health and safety issues which in part have affected the show in my opinion. BB is no longer about being mainly "the big bully controlling the housemates" but more "the BFG looking out for and teasing the housemates".
It'll probably return next year with exactly the same motion and will just lose more ratings unfortunately because it's now essentially the same old thing. I have watched since it began and watch now because its "Big Brother - the original and best reality show" but you have to question once again, has it had it's day?
Ashame that the ratings are down due to the fact that i thought overall it wasent as bad a series as past few years. The things that did make it hard for me is the length it is on for, 9 - 10 weeks should be the norm, and changing the times between 9pm / 10pm.
This year has been great, its sustained more viewers than last year and I think its left most viewers with a good appetite for more, which will only benefit them next year. If they can get CBB6 right then they are on the path to a very successful 10th year. I have faith that they can restore the show to an extent. It will never go back to how it was between BB1 and BB7 but they can definitely get the show back up to the high 3m/low 4m range. This year was IMO getting people to enjoy the show again, and it has worked.
Interesting article here regarding the first ever BB winner. I'm not too interested in what he has to say however I skipped to the bottom of the article where it says:
Quote:
Every year the doomsayers proclaim the death of Big Brother. And every year this mix of hardy perennial and street-fighter confounds them - quite rightly. It's a brilliant format, and this year its cleverly cast group of dysfunctional squabblers has won a consistent audience of around three million viewers. That's impressive loyalty for a show that has lasted, exhaustingly, for more than 90 days.
Some may say it's the nadir of TV. But Big Brother is about relationships. It is occasionally revealing: this year we watched “the group” fail to deal with sexist bullying. It's not always exciting, the characters are engaging, loathsome and sometimes inert. But for three months the viewer tunes in to watch this addictive piece of contrived theatre.
The typical viewer is a 15-24 female with no religion and little interest in politics, who uses Bebo over Facebook and enjoys Heat magazine - though of course its audience is wider than this. Those who say BB is on the wane don't belong to this group. They were never meant to.
Big Brother alumni rarely go on to amazing things: Jade Goody is the most notorious, Brian Dowling's TV profile has progressed in fits and starts, Nasty Nick will always feature on clips shows. For others, nascent pop or presenting careers inevitably founder, yet still they tumble(optimistically, for the paps) out of nightclubs.
There will be two more seasons of the show at least; the celebrity version is rumoured to be returning next January. As it approaches its tenth birthday, Big Brother isn't dead - it's regaining its stride.
I lost whatever shred of respect I had remaining for Davina when she asked Rachel in a very confrontational manner (on Big Mouth) if she was going to share her prize money with the other finalists. Davina just wouldn't let it drop and kept pressing the question.
It was a totally ridiculous and unreasonable suggestion; Rachel won fair and square, and what she now chooses to do with her money is her own private business.
Oh, because Rachel has to be wrapped in cotton wool because she's such a big baby who can't do anything for herself.
All Davina asked was if the thought had crossed her mind - a question she'd already put to the other finalists - specifically Rex, who was open and honest enough to admit despite saying he would have, he wouldn't have.
And if he had won (as he should have done) and been asked the question - it wouldn't be Davina the idiotic Rachel fans would be attacking, it would be Rex for being selfish.

Truth is it was a stupid question to ask - there was no need to put anyone on the spot - a simple 'What are you going to spend it on?' would have done!
Saying that maybe Rachel should have said I'll give half to charity Davina if you do the same for your show fee this year - I am sure that response would have been interesting.
