Where have you seen only 2m were cast for the whole of BB8 - not seen any stats on voting figures at all.

(And 1% of 200,000 is 2000, not 200).

It's difficult to judge the voting trends now - the last time figures were released were for the BB6 final, which got around 6m - and it's fair to say they've fallen since then.

Generally speaking though the finals got as many votes as the total voters cast during the season, so even if voting had fallen by half in the last few years, I'd still expect at least 5-6m votes to be cast each year - but I'd have thought it would be nearer the 10m barrier myself.

Anyway last year £244,208 was given to charity with 10p from each vote going to charity. That means around 2.4m votes were cast for the whole of BB8, however it is worth noting that BB8 was the first series without text and red button voting.

Oh, didn't think of that. Good point.

Where did you get that figure from, and have you got the figures from BB7, CBB5 and Celeb Hijack?

Sorry, I don't have any other figures. I think the £244,208 was announced on the Channel 4 website after BB8 had finished but it was widely reported on fan sites and forums as well. They'll probably release this years charity sum at some point next week, although I expect it to be slightly higher because 2007 was just a bad year for telephone TV features and people seem to be more into this years series than last.

OK, thanks.

Yes, although BB8 was **** of course I'm sure it was more what was going on in TV as a whole which led to such low figures, though that said The X Factor didn't seem too affected later in the year.

II'd definately agree people are more into this series, but whether figures would rise I'm not so sure as most weeks there hasn't really been someone up for eviction that would bring in the revenue, and similarly now we're at the final there isn't anyone who really encourages you to call, call and call again.

Davina just said sorry for the bad lanuage which was caused by a technical problem. What was said? By whom?........

Oh, Sarah just said **** while I was typing this message. I guess that answers my question then.

Oh, Rex just said piss. I can't see how these are technical problems though.

Why can't people on TV just be honest? Instead of saying everything is caused by "technical problems", why can't they say everthing is caused by "human error". They would probably be correct more often than not.

Who is that guy who ALWAYS appears on Big Mouth and other "audience related" shows? I think his name's Michael or Tony and he has a distinctive toupee-style haircut (to put it politely). Does he work for Endemol or something? I honestly don't believe he actually watches BB at all.

Saying that, tonight he appeared from his home as a "special guest" on the TV seat.

Anyway, it seems we don't have a clear winner this year - could be interesting if anyone's still watching... i'm clearly loving it..

I'm watching, although I've gone from watching in support of my favourite to enjoying seeing who goes next. I miss Dale Crying or Very sad

Last night's double was a great watch - especially when Kat went. "Oh Big Brudda, no more - pwease leave my friends here".

Er, ok. Kat - you're out!

I really enjoyed last nights show. Although they sort of knew that a surprise eviction would happen this week, it was made even better by the fact that they thought that Kat was a dead cert winner.

I expect Endemol to come up with a gameshow format based around the blindfolded water fight in tonights show.

Last night's show was one of the best eviction shows in a while - as for once the result went exactly to plan. And seeing the shock on Kathreya's face tonight again when she was evicted was priceless.

Tonight's show was poor though - the impersonation task got very dull, very quick.

I thought tonight's show was hilarious with the impression task.

Poor Wendy Richard.

Quote:
Responding to the row on LBC radio yesterday, Richard said: "I'm so upset, I'm so close to tears. I feel ill. I can't believe such a brouhaha has started up. What I was trying to convey is that Kat did not betray her thoughts about what was going on in the house all of the time.

"I have just been told by an American friend that Oriental is considered offensive in the US and I did not know that. I didn't mean to cause offence."

She added: "It's a long time since I was at school but I was thinking of those Arthur Conan Doyle books with Sherlock Holmes when it was the inscrutable Chinese."

It was as plain as the nose on her face she didn't mean any offence by it.

These ar$eholes who complained need a kick in the nuts.

Talk about crying wolf.

IMHO the bigger Big Brother story on Tuesday evening (which is when Wendy Richard was on BBLB) was the fact that Channel 4/Endemol let several "sh!ts", a few "p!sses" and a "fucxing" go out unbeeped on Channel 4 between 8pm and 9pm.

My theory is that not many people noticed the swearing on the main Big Brother show because we have become accustomed to Big Brother's potty mouth over the last 90+ days/episodes. I personally sat and watched it and I only became aware of the swearing after Davina McCall apologised for it. It was only then that I realised that the show was on an hour earlier and therefore before the 9pm watershed instead of the normal 9pm/10pm start.

I am sure Ofcom will get some complaints about the swearing but not as many as if the newspapers had reported on it instead of the BBLB 'racism'. Endemol/Channel 4 can apologise to Ofcom and the handful of viewers who are likely to complain about the swearing and the matter will be dropped. If the swearing was picked up by the newspapers then not only would a lot more people complain but the newspapers would demand Ofcom take some kind of action and our weak regulator would probably cave in to their demands.

As the newspapers picked up the BBLB story instead, Ofcom will likely get more complaints about that than the swearing on the main show. The BBLB story seems a lot easier for Endemol/Channel 4 to deal with. They just need to make a statement distancing themselves from the comments that Wendy Richard made and make it clear that she will not be invited back on the show again.

My totaly unsubstantiated conspiracy theory:
It was in Endemol's/Channel 4's interest for the BBLB story to spread instead of the swearing story. We already know from another thread on this forum that Wendy Richard's comments only went out once (not even being repeated on E4+1) so how did LBC get a tape of Wendy Richard on BBLB which included those comments? Could Channel 4/Endemol have helped this story spread by supplying newspapers/LBC with tapes of BBLB?
