When Gladiators returned to Sky One, it only lasted for 2 series, and there were budget cuts in the second series.
I could see something similar happening to Big Brother if it went to Sky One. Not sure if channels like Pick or Challenge have got the budget for it, so I think it's unlikely that Big Brother will get picked up by Sky.
Everything has a shelf life, and for a programme which has been going for nearly 20 years, I think it's had its day.

It'd certainly fit in with their structured reality formats.
If it was on a smaller channel like MTV, I wonder if they'd reduce the live aspect dramatically, perhaps to only a live final. That would be sure to upset current fans though.
I'd probably watch it again if it was in pre-recorded segments if it was three times a week instead of nightly. On the other hand, it lost it's way when the live feed was axed.

I wonder if it'll end up on MTV. Same company as Channel 5 and they currently repeat the previous day's episode.

If it was on a smaller channel, then they'd probably put the live feed on a YouTube channel, just doing nightly recaps, and live evictions. Heck I'm kinda surprised that Channel 5 didn't try to do that when YouTube started offering live streaming.

I doubt it will get picked up by anyone. It wasn't going to be picked up by anyone when Channel 4 dropped it, until Dirty Des took over Channel 5 and saw it as a way to fill his trashy newspapers. Channel 5 under RTL weren't even interested in it.

MTV are C5.
C5 have killed the product and their delay in announcing what really was known a year ago shows how little respect they have for it. The only reason the series so far this year have been an improvement is that C5 clearly were only airing it to fulfil contractual obligations, so interfered left, whilst just as in 2010 Endemol were actually putting effort in to make it look attractive to a new broadcaster.
It just needs to rest now - probably best wait actually until Love Island finds itself in similar shoes and plot a return to capture that audience. However it might be worth Endemol shipping their spin off show Secret Story to the likes of Sky/E4 - it's basically Big Brother but every HM has a secret and they have to work out each others secrets, but cast similarly to Love Island, and also looks quite different to traditional Big Brother too. If Endemol want a quick revival that might be a way to do it without any of the baggage of the Big Brother brand.

The show was the live feed and losing the live feed lost the buzz around the show.
Agree nightly is too big a commitment - three times a week works well in Canada and BBUSA, supported by the live feed for people who want 7 day coverage.

Was this year's CBB the last one too?

Well if they rest it for a few years, and if it comes back, it needs to come back with a completely new format, fewer tightly edited shows per week instead of nightly recaps, no extra show like BBOTS, no multiple shows per night and show it earlier enough in the evening, one series per year, return the live streaming, stop the stunt casting.

I've seen Secret Story on M6 in France. It feels a lot like Big Brother, but they've also managed to get the youth slant on the format, which never really worked with BB UK.
