Speaking of newspapers, anyone remember that moment in Big Brother 2 when one of the chickens got a disease and had to be taken away. Big Brother gave one of the contestants a cage to put it in, with a newspaper at the bottom!

When the contestants realised this, Big Brother swiftly told them to return to the Diary Room.

Is there any news as to whether this series will be featuring product placement?

There will be product placement, I remember reading an advert requesting sponsorship deals which would also include product placement. There were rumours that Desmond wants to place his own products but quite how that would work and whether there will be anything beyond that I don't know. I also imagine there will be some form of deal with Tesco or other brands.

Desmond's product portfolio consists of tabloid papers and hardcore pornography.

He obviously can't put newspapers in - and I think we all know how porn works.

There was a thing a few years ago where they put a collection of newspapers and magazines in the house so housemates could see what had been written about them. I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that again if Daily Star and OK! get a bit of publicity out of it.

I think the rules would prevent product placement of his own products.

The rules of the show? Or are there regulations in place meaning N&S can't do product placement on Channel 5? if it's the rules of the show, I refer you to the point I mentioned in my previous post about the magazine task in BB9 or 10.

The way his portfolio will be promoted is by being the exclusive provider of gossip and exclusive interviews and reveals [and therefore advertised during the programme's ad breaks]. I'd imagine BB's Bit on the Side will also mention it every now and then when things are printed.

That's true, although mentioning it wouldn't really be product placement because a lot of shows do that anyway.

Just on another topic, the full length advert has aired. I haven't seen it on TV but saw it on the internet, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It feels more like a BBLB advert. Channel 4 managed to give the BB campaign a bit of class and mystique whilst remaining graphically excellent and the music always built up for effect. That one just felt a bit cheesy and whilst its important not to take BB too seriously, they're perhaps underselling it a bit and to most viewers it will just be same old same old.

Whilst last years campaign did have a similar advert, it was better produced and a novelty, whilst it did run along side an 'old style' campaign with the above mentioned features. The Channel 5 advert seems a bit recycled.

I still think that the smashed glass eye was the best one, however it is nice to see a fresh look for it's run on C5. It's much more inkeeping with the channels presentation. Hate the cheesy 3D text in that promo though.
