BB11 was IMO one of the best in years and was the sort of overhaul the show had long been in need of. If it had come a year earlier instead of the unwatchable BB10 who knows, things might have been different.

It had a good start, and I liked the way they produced it with the housemates outside the house, music on entrance, tweaks to eviction shows, save and replace etc. But I found the housemates to be the most annoying and dislikable yet boring bunch ever and I didn't like how they kept having tasks in front of the crowd- completely defeating the object of Big Brother. Having Davina talking to the house from the crowd was tolerable, but that is different to actually being out there. I also didn't like the eviction music, it was too loud (ruining any atmosphere) and it would have been better if it wasn't pop songs, ie something similar to their entrance.

I'm surprised BB10 is getting slated. IMO it was the best since BB7 and much better than BB11. Watching Bea's manipulation of the house and then her quite hilarious downfall was very entertaining. With BB11 there was too much whining from John James by the end of it and I really didn't take to Sam Pepper unlike the rest of the world bizarrely seemed to.

BB4 and BB8 will never be beaten in terms of dreadfulness.

Big Brother to be hosted by Brian Dowling and Emma Willis, confirms Channel 5

Digital Spy posted:
Brian Dowling has been confirmed as the host of Big Brother on Channel 5, while Emma Willis is to front a new spinoff show.

Willis will front an all-new sister show called Big Brother's Bit On The Side. It will be scheduled around the main programme and feature a "vibrant, fast-paced and edgy take on all the developments and news from the house". It will include interviews with housemates, famous superfans and pop culture experts.

Celebrity Big Brother will air on Channel 5 in August. The non-celebrity edition will follow in September.

Steve Strange, Jedward, Kerry Katona and Rachel Stevens have all been linked to this year's Celebrity Big Brother.

Hmm, bit on the side? I take it they couldn't get the rights to use the Little Brother name then.

I wouldn't of thought anyone other than Endemol owns the name, it's probably more of a mash of Big Mouth and Little Brother hence the name change.

I'm surprised it isn't the other way around. For the declining image of the show, it isn't the best move because they've just limited their potential audience and managed to make it look like they can't get a big name presenter. It just looks like Davina has jumped ship and the ex housemates have rallied around to fill the void because noone else will do it. Technically I'm sure he'll do OK, they could have got someone a lot worse.

Well this must be Brian's biggest job ever. Apart from winning BB2, his biggest claim to fame is probably hosting The Mint on ITV Play! I think it's a good move. Who's going to know what it's like for the housemates, better than an ex-housemate? Same reason Natasha Kaplinsky once covered maternity leave for Tess Daly on the second series of Strictly - she'd been the winning contestant the previous year. And likewise with Cheryl Cole, who won Popstars: The Rivals, becoming a judge on X Factor.

Well he did win 2 BAFTAs for hosting SMTV.

Yeah I think some people forget that the SMTV team of Brian and Tess were the second most memorable presenting team of the show after Ant, Dec and Cat.

I wonder have Channel 5 done a deal with an Irish broadcaster for this yet? Annoyingly enough, Channel 5 is the only major British broadcaster that doesn't broadcast in Ireland and so this is the first series of Big Brother we won't be able to see on this side of the Water.

Which given the contribution the Irish housemates - including the aforementioned Brian Dowling - have made to the series, is surely a loss.

If a deal is done with an Irish broadcaster, it will surely be 3e - I can't see any other channel being able to give Big Brother the time it demands.
