Part of the reason it hit the skids is that they were recycling the same old ideas and made it feel really stale. When they made a number of changes for last years Celebrity Big Brother the ratings shot back up again with one of the most watched launches in the shows history and the series average was the highest in a few years too. If they did that before the decline set in properly and kept rebooting the show in some form year after year just like they did before the race row then it wouldn't have lost so many viewers.

For you. That's what made it hit the skids for you.
The cast (as I've said for years) is the number one consideration for me. If I can't connect with most of them on some level, I'm not interested in anything they make them do. Simple as that. Little twists here and there - wotevva. It makes no difference if they're all shallow and thick and puffed up with unwarranted self-importance.
The only cast full of vacuous wannabes was BB8. There have been some in every other series but as part of a wider range of people.
Your vacuous and my vacuous may not exactly line up, dear.
No offence.
Or maybe you just have your rose tinted glasses on. If any of the earlier line ups were to appear in the latter years they'd be labelled as wannabes too. Even as early as BB2 they were talking about deals that came after the show. But they've always had a good mix and some people with depth or from different backgrounds.
I think the people in the first few series were a bit more subtle though. Also the age range seemed better and some of the ones where there were only young people worked particularly poorly.
Big brother have another new advert coming soon.there was a 2 second preview was just on channel 5. It includes skateboards and a guitar.
I think it's an advert for Lucozade that will premier in one of the ad breaks in Big Brother next Thursay rather than an advert for Big Brother itself.
It started as an experiment and ended as a desperate freakshow (the final C4 series even having that as the theme!) and will be reborn as the latter.

I see that the Celeb BB promo is running on Dave, with it ending on the Channel 5 logo - but with the word 'Channel' in the logo as in the print version.
Seems an odd thing to do - as if they aren't convinced of their own branding and people will not know which channel it will be on with just a '5' on its own.
