I think it's fair to say they'd have preferred ratings closer to the million mark, but in every other respect this series has been a huge hit for Big Brother.
Those that are watching it really are appreciating it - and it has allowed them to experiment with the format alot to test audience reactions to things like more outside content.
It's absence from C4 has led to people complaining it's not in the C4 schedules and stating it should be back at the heart of the schedule in the summer (after a year where it's been questioned if C4 should show it at all), while Dermot being in control has only served to increase the numbers in the Davina fan club.
More importantly C4 has discovered it can get good ratings without relying on Big Brother - and they've now indicated that the 9pm slot will probably remain Big Brother free in the summer and the show will be restored back to it's traditional 10pm slot - which makes a whole lot of sense, not just so it's not dominating C4's peak-time schedule, but also because it'll rate better at 10pm, especially now News at Ten is back too.

:-(
It has wavered a bit towards the end, but overal ive enjoyed it. I think the ratings on E4 have been ok considering. The housemates seem ok, seem to get along ok not lots of fighting. It does feel like a condensed BB4, people say that was boring but i found it ok, and the ratings werent that bad.

Whats News At Ten got to do with Big Brother? Even without News At Ten on ITV, there's always the Ten O' Clock News on BBC and besides its all different demographics or maybe it was a sly dig at ITV?

With news on the BBC and ITV, Big Brother has pretty much a free run in the 10pm slot - there isn't much on BBC2 or Five to worry it.
When it was just on the BBC yes ITV did try spoiler tactics in the 10pm slot, but they generally didn't work.
At 9pm though even though Big Brother did occasionally win the slot, they were denying themselves viewers by being in the more competitive slot - and when the BBC and ITV get it right in the slot, BB's ratings would take a hit.

Tonight's final (E4 8.30pm) is being hosted from inside the house, with all the interviews etc. being done inside.
Not quite sure how this means they'll evict people - or whether they'll actually leave the house at all - but there will be a crowd outside so unless they let them all in, they'll be something going on outside the house too.

Well I just hope the viewers enjoy it. All 2 of them.

Yes - glad they did something, but as he said it's quite weird for him to be signing off then having to host the main show half an hour later!
Hopefully they'll do something after on Big Mouth too - I'd like to think Davina would crop up at some point, even if it's just a video message or on the phone.
Anyhow as this series draws to a close I am much more confident about Big Brother 9 than I was after the farce that was BB8 - and the BB producers are certainly talking the talk when it comes to BB9 - so let's just hope they keep their word.
