They have no incentive too though when they know even if they clinged on for 3 days straight producers would still turn around and introduce another "twist" which sees them having a 4 in 6 chance of being evicted at the end of the week when they weren't even nominated in the first place. UK housemates can't even influence their own fate through the nomination process anymore, never mind through competitions.
"Respect" is the key difference between the two formats IMO. Firstly Canadian producers have respect for their cast and treat them fairly, unlike BBUK who play favourites. Every single twist this season was announced either to viewers or the houseguests before it was known who might benefit from them.
Secondly though the focus on gameplay in Canada (and the US) actually brings about so much respect amongst the cast - you'll see people fighting against each other all season but very rarely is it personal and at the end of it all there seems to be an attitude of respecting your opponents in the game, rather than holding grudges.
Meanwhile in BBUK they argue over eggs.
