Big Brother Canada 2015

Big Brother Canada just revealed new pic of the Big Brother house. Its a steampunk paradise. Very confusing in a good way. Very Jules Verne-2000 Leagues Under The Sea-Vibe. This year the show moves up to the mothership GLOBAL rather than be sidelined to SLICE channel. The shows companion show expands to an hour. The show will not air in the US. Though Big Brother US continues to air in Canada. I guess CBS feel it will dilute their product. If they were smart they would have picked up BBCAN and put it on their recently relaunched POP channel. Which air BBUSA After Dark program.

View from Entrance to the backyard over the living. I like the set-up of the Canada house. Same basic structure. Just redecorated. The US BB house needs to be burned to the ground. Its horrible. And its the same house they've had forever. So boring now.

I can't help thinking of The Crystal Maze when I see those pictures. That bloke looks like he's a lock in.

I love the twists on this show. Keeps it interesting. They are sprinkled thoughout the series. The rumors I'm hearing is that all their belongings are locked in the vault and they have to somehow "win it". And also all the houseguests upon entering the house are HOHs and each houseguest must nominate 2 people, the 2 that gets the most votes will be put for nomination and Canada will vote them out. Will be interesting to see what else unfolds the rest of the series.

Head to Head BBCAN is killing BBUSA creatively. Time for a new EP and a new HOUSE in USA. Unlike the other houses where nominations arent typically discussed and the public votes them out, I prefer the North American version. There is always something going down in the house, strategizing and scheming. It makes for interesting watching. Fight are about backstabbing rather than endless fights only about cleaning and food and that stuff...ehhh kinda boring IMO. There are creative elements of BBUK/AUS i like, but to me the HOH and in-house votes makes for bit more watchable telly than people sitting only around talking about how much someone irritates them, that starts to get old IMO. There are actually conversations about how to get people out of the house and what they have to do to accomplish that.

We all have to admit the original "social experiment" aspect is kinda gone now on all the versions. CBS kinda repositioned it as a game show of sorts. GLOBAL in Canada followed suit with the Canadian version, as BBUSA is huge in Canada. I think the "social experiment" version has seen its day. This not a dig at the original BB, but its my preference after watching both versions over the years.
I know there are die hard BBUK'ers that love the original format. BBUSA did the orignal for for the first year. The next year it was changed. I think maybe Ch5 should shake up the BBUK format for one year and see what happens. Just a thought.

Like someone made a house out of the Doctor Who titles

I do think the US/Canada version is much more of a social experiment than what BBUK and many international versions have become - basically a scripted mess. The experiment may be different to what Big Brother was originally but there is still the feeling of not knowing how the houseguests will interact with each other (with the added twist of power in the balance). BBUK is now all about how the producers interact with the housemates, not how the housemates interact with each other.

What i do miss about in BBUS version is the "character" of Big Brother is completely sidelined. I think BBAU goes a bit too far with the use of the BB Voice and the character. I like the balance of the "voice of BB" use on BBUK. On BBUSA, houseguests often say "the producers want this or that" or houseguests will say "they asked us to do this" or they have even used the name of a producer during the live feeds. I hate that. Kinda breaks the wall that separated the behind the scenes and houseguests. Just a little peeve that gets on my nerves.

BB Canada starts tonight. 8pm E. Get your VPNs ready to watch. Livefeeds dont launch until Wednesday.

The opening last night was brilliant.
Seems like BBCAN adopted the eye like the other international versions. DOnt know if that was only for the season opener. Though the opening sequence and music looks similar to previous seasons, just with steampunk additions. The typical houseguests open was not shown, probably due to time. In the house there is a vault room covered in in smaller vaults that contain "powers" and the "have-not" room has a secret vault that rises out of the floor. They are creatively killing BBUS, by a mile.

They were locked in a house not only without their personal belongs but without any furniture or beds any chairs or food (thought i think they had something to eat)...they had to sleep on the floor the first night. LOL.

Was a great premiere and love the irony of their launch twist basically being using the original Big Brother format.

As for the eye - it has always featured in the BB Canada logo and they used it prominently in the premiere last year too. Clearly though from the stings an updated version of the titles will be used this year.

Now that you say that you are right. I totally forgot. I do remember it. I guess I was thinking of the prominence of the "eye" on the global versions. This year on BBCAN they opened with the eye. But the opening sequence was very BBUK/AUS. BBUS is just lost now.
