No mention of it in BBC News headlines at 10pm - I expect it'll feature more prominently on ITV News though.

Re: phone lines. I don't know where the calls are taken but I imagine it's dealt with elsewhere. Anyway, even if the place is empty the phone lines could still take the votes.

It's on news online and ceefax only (and N24 according to someone)

Bit of cynacism(sp?) here, but could this just be a BB PR stunt to boost interest, ONLY A SUGGESTION, DONT JUMP ON ME....

Yep - the words 'rat' and 'smell' spring to mind!

I sincerely doubt that.

IMHO unlikely, but that's just me... can any of us truly completely discount it?

On the e4 ticker on the interactive bit it says the vote is still open, so dig deep boys and girls and get phoning BB!

I imagine the situation will actually cost the BB producers a fortune!

Good job Davina's quit The Vault.

I wonder how much the housemates have been told, and if they actually believe it or suspect Big Brother of trying to scare them.

Any thoughts or speculation as to when the HM's are going to be back at the house? I'm guessing they'll be back before midnight, but I guess none of us really know what is going on down there.

The more I consider it, the less I think this is some kind of stunt. I can't help but feel that there's a lot of Channel 4 bigwigs pacing up and down right now, I think there's a situation that needs talking out of tomorrow. I can't imagine the HMs are particularly happy right now, and I can't help but feel that it's going to play into the hands of those who seem hell-bent on BB4 criticism.

But that's just my opinion.

Let's get the HM's back and get on with it asap...

Edit: Quoting the official website...

No news yet, but as said above C4 have postponed tonight's live show at 11.50pm.

Investigations are probably continuing, so they might be put in a hotel over night.

The other day the housemates were discussing how they believed security around the Big Brother house was tighter than at Buckingham Palace - has the comedy terrorist broke in?

Also, it's reported the package was found during routine pre-show security checks. Proves they work!

I disagree; this is very exciting. Nobody will be able to say it's boring now.

Strange logic throughout. What time the housemates go back in (if they've left) is irrelevant. Thomson and Gardam may be a little concerned that it will cost them a bit more money in wages and studio lights, but the hype and therefore viewing figures that it will generate will ease their pain! The housemates shouldn't be too unhappy, they'll have been moved to a small room, and then back toi their house, they may have see another human or two, but I doubt they'll be sueing.
The only thing the critics will be saying, is that it is the most exciting thing to happen this series.

As time goes on "security alert" seams to get thinner.

Day 43, 10.00pm
By Mark Newby

A suspicious package has been found at Elstree Studios where Big Brother is set. At around 8pm, the E4 live feeds switched to a shot of the garden, and sound was cut.

It has since become clear that the reason for this was that a package, believed to contain an explosive device of some description, was found outside of the George Lucas stage, which not only holds all of the sound desks and vision mixers for Big Brother, but also contains the stages for both Big Brother and Big Brother's Little Brother.

An official spokeswoman for the series stated that the housemates "have been evacuated to a building at the far end of [Elstree Studios]".

At 9:32pm, an announcement was made on Channel 4 by the continuity announcer that the eviction show would now go ahead at 10pm, however in the junction before 10pm, the announcer stated that it had been "Postponed." Do not instantly take this to mean "Cancelled" please - Channel 4 are working very hard with the police to try and get the show on tonight, and there is time for the announcement to take place at 10:30pm after a now scheduled episode of Friends.

In other news relating to tonights developments, The Police have told press members that they have "Set up a 200m cordon around a box which they believed to contain an explosive substance". Once more, we then had confirmation of the housemates evacuation.

Update - 10pm: Channel 4 have now announced that the eviction night will commence tomorrow night at 9pm.

Update - 10:11pm Channel 4 have announced that the voting lines will remain open; probably to avoid any information falling into prying hands.

Graham Norton began talking about Independence Day and then Big Brother (with a cut) before talking about LIsa getting nominated next week.
