I'll type the full paragraph in tomorrow about who made it etc. but yes that is the new logo.

The circles were ditched seemingly becuase they clashed horribly on the eye and on print.

It was made by Foundation33, a design company which Channel 4 loves!

Hello

Just received my copy of the new issue of Creative Review and the logo that the above links lead to doesn't appear to be correct. The logo I've seen is black with the colours of the spectrum emanating from the middle of the eye. Here's what Creative Review have to say about it...

"Yes, Big Brother is back with a brand new identity from designers Foundation 33. Once again, the iconic eye symbol appears, this time drawn in a full colour spectrum. An optical illusion is then created via black and white lines converging into the pupil. "The manipulation of the gaze echoes the main ethos of the show," says Foundation 33's Sam Solhaug. The identity will be used for site-specific installations, posters and on-air titles. The optical effect "verges on the uncomfortable for the viewer," says Channel Four marketing manager Nick Stringer. Just like watching the programme then. Animation is by Oscar Gonzalez at Red"

Wish I could post scans of the new ID here, but I don't have a scanner.

It looks nice though, and a little bit more inventive than the blue and silver logo mentioned above.

FYI.

Odd xx

I came across Foundation33 the other day, and their website reveals that Channel 4 use them for almost all of their presentations!

That new logo looks like something you'd see on the box of a Kodak camera film.

I don't see why they don't use the "Generic" Big Brother logo which AFAIK all other countries use, although I've only ever seen it used here in the first edition:

EDIT: Used to be blue ...

I like that logo quite a bit. Far more impresive than others on first impression.

Also, re: Kate being the standby host. I think this is unlikely as she is committed to RI:SE and so far Big Brother has resisted using ex-housemates as host.

The logo is awful, but it could just about work on screen.
C4 do put a lot of business in the way of Foundation33 don't they! Although most of their work is very good, and documented very well, the Andy Warhol poster campaign looked fantastic, i'd probably have toured London to see them (and i'm no great Warhol fan).

I think many European countries use that logo, but the Aussie version has their own logo (two eyes) and America uses a house.

Here's the latest BB news, from Ananova

Quote:
Producers of Big Brother have confirmed the fourth series will start at the end of May - with a new-look house and 12 new contestants.

The Channel 4 show will be returning to its original reality format for its nine-week run, without any of last year's gimmicks such as the rich and poor sides.

The new "cocoon-like" open-plan house has a simple, natural design and features an additional outdoor sheltered area.

The 12 housemates have yet to be finalised, but producers are looking for ordinary people who will get on well and do not play up to the cameras, as in previous years.

The housemates will still have a weekly task to determine their food budget. But the stakes have been increased with the group having to place a minimum 50% bet on the outcome.

In addition, the housemates will still take part in a live challenge each Saturday night.

Executive Producer Gigi Eligoloff says: "This year, the absolute essence of the show is the people and their existence, cutting individuals off from society and getting them to live together as a community.

"Big Brother is all about character and personality and this year's focus should allow people the scope to reveal who they really are.

"The human capacity to surprise is what makes the series so compelling, and of course Big Brother always has some surprises of its own.

"All this and an all-important game to play - just what will people do for £70,000 and what tactics, if any, will they employ to stay?"

"Ordinary housemates who won't play up to the cameras"? Yeah right. Someone always does.

Guess I'd better get prepared for E4 being commendeered in my house for nine weeks again! *sigh*

edit: They've put some pics of the new house here

Getting back on topic - in one way I'm glad the original format returns, but in another, I was hoping for a major revamp - although I suspect Big Brother has something up it's sleeve.

I see Little Brother is being moved to C4 - I think this is a shame - it worked well as an E4 spin-off, but I thought during Celeb Big Brother it was a bit too much. E4 gets a new Tuesday night show called Nominations Uncut

Meanwhile, some nice pics from the digital spy website of the house (vastly improved from last year IMO):

And finally, the logo:

PS: The article suggest nine weeks, but others say the series starts on May 23 and ends in August, which would be at least ten weeks.
