There are plenty of panels in the design which look like they could be camera windows... they just don't all appear to use 1 way mirrors.

Probably won’t last that long and may not be as good as the British one even though I never watched Big Brother

What an informed opinion.

There weren't live launch shows until the house moved to Elstree.

For series one the housemates had been living in the house for several days prior to the first episode airing.

Yes, I was at the live launch of BB3 at Elstree. The crowd was still quite civilised in those days and there was plenty of room to move about from the front of the house to the studio door where the eviction set was. Halfway through the transmission a rather frail looking lady behind me collapsed and had to be taken away. It was only later in the run I realised it was Jade's mother!

Wasn't BB3 the glory days when you could choose from three or four live streams almost 24/7?

I think there was an official DVD as well

I wonder if any broadcaster has considered by rights to air the programme over here, it would fill up schedules a little and is a lot cheaper than producing a version of the programme that’s if BB fans would watch it of course.

Big Brother is dated in my opinion. It may have been cool, avant-garde and trendy back when it was launched but by 2015 it was getting dated and stale here in the UK. I can understand why the original Australian series was canned in 2014.

BB was passed it when Channel 4 cancelled it. It wouldn't even have come back if Dirty Des hadn't bought Channel 5 and saw it as a way to fill his rags.

Could do that with BB1 and 2 as well! Wasn't good quality though as it was still dial-up days, I still watched them for hours though!

In fact when T4 came from the BB house two days after the end of series 1, the web streams were still going, so you could see and hear the crew setting up and watch them between links.

I think the first two series of Big Brother were quite interesting, especially the eviction shows. The way Davina was in control of her audio link ("They'll be able to hear me, but they won't be able to see me." never really stuck! Razz) and the walk across the bridge was quite tense. I suppose that's where the phrase I'm coming to get you took off as she really did have to come and get her from the otherside of the complex.

I admit I liked the original house and the canalside location it had, it was a bit disapointing when they moved to Elstree. Was a lot less secure though, with the public footpath by the canal (where you often saw people walking past on the first series of BBLB).

Well the version being presented is the not the same old UK/Intl version. Ch7 has opted to adopt the North American version created by CBS and used for Big Brother Canada and elements area also used for BB Brasil. Its a bit different than the old just stick people in a house and watch them argue over dirty dishes.
The North American version is a game of strategy, and skill. Making use of social skills to get people on your side so they dont evict you. It includes competitions and some physical prowess thrown into the mix. Its kinda not the same show as the old BB.
Though Im not sure about the pre-taped element for this version. The problem is that yes the audience ultimately will choose the winner at the end of the series. But this comes after watching a completely producer-edited version of each houseguest. So they could be edited anyway the producers chooses for them. So Im kinda divided on that point. Because would the best winner actually be chosen? The person that played the best game to get to the final? Maybe they had to backstab, lie and cheat to get there. The audience might not like that.

The American version the winner is chosen by a jury of previously evicted houseguests from that season. To ensure they vote for you at the end... you have to engage what is called "Jury Management". Dont make the jury members too mad as you evict them one by one and send them to the sequestered jury house. Because if you make them too angry, you may wind up with a bitter jury and they wont vote for you in the end as the winner. In the Australian version with viewers picking the final winner, you cant "Jury Manage" the entire viewing public. So this will be interesting to see if the true winner is actually chose to win the prize. Or they get screwed over in the end.
