Sounds like CH4 are losing confidence in the show...

New slots for 'Big Brother' this summer

Channel 4 is intending to be more "tactical" with its scheduling of Big Brother this summer to fend off a host of rival reality shows on ITV.

ITV is attempting to challenge C4's traditional BB-led dominance of the crucial 16-34 age demographic with the likes of Celebrity Love Island, Soccer Idol and Celebrity Pop Idol.

In return, Channel 4 is extending the length of BB to "at least" thirteen weeks and will move the show from its traditional 10pm home to different slots around the primetime schedule.

"ITV went for us last year with Love Island but I don't know that they thought it was a marvellous success," Kevin Lygo, C4's director of television, told Broadcast. "This year they'll throw Coronation Street all over the place too."

I remember reading last summers series ranked last amongst all six series ratings wise. It seems to me the celebrity edition is now more popular then the regular edition.

Well the Celebrity version gets more attention on TV and Papers then the normal version last year, plus it was on at 9pm everynight.

The rescheduling isn't really about Big Brother at all - it's about freeing up the 10pm slot on C4 for more drama and film.

Desperate Housewives will still be running when Big Brother returns and Lost is expected to return in May.

It's easier for C4 to sacrifice their 9pm output than their stronger performing 10pm output at the moment.

It's risky - and could backfire, especially as a 9pm show would clash with many World Cup matches.

The Celebrity version has always gone out at 9pm, but it's only this year it's made a serious impact in the ratings.

If i was the boss of Channel 4 or whatever i would do this...

Mon - Thurs and Sat
8.30pm -9.00pm Big Brother
All the latest action from the house

10.30pm - 11.15pm Big Brother Uncut
All the action they couldnt show you earlier, plus extra footage.

Fridays would be normal 8.30pm and 10.00pm eviction shows. Sunday 9pm would be the physcology show .

I personally think the 8.30 one would act as a teaser and people will then want to see what happend after or what they couldnt show at that time.

Well i think that would work fine, it does wonders for BB Australia, which airs at 7pm then an uncut version later

I'm confused, does this mean BB will now run from 10pm-11pm or 8.00pm-9.00pm or whatever???

Well the 'Digital Spy' report suggests it won't actually have a fixed slot and will be shifted about accordingly.

Personally, I'd like to turn up at the BB auditions with a muchine gun and kill the lot of them. At least then we don't have to face weeks of these wannabe ceelbs on the telly, followed by months of them poking their faces onto every TV show and on every magazine & tabloid cover. I'm sick of f**king Chantelle already.
