Given that this is a TV PRESENTATION forum, I'm amazed how 99.9% of discussions these days are about the CONTENT of the shows... but anyway, enough of my ranting.
Even though what I'm about to ask is about
presentation
(and not the
content
*) of Big Brother, this at least seemed the most relevant thread to put it in (being about the same show, an' all).
And it's this: You must have seen it. The subliminal flash-frames that appear in this year's Big Brother (and all its derivatives) title sequences. To wit: (to woo)
Now, what's this all about? "NOT FOR TRANSMISSION" ??? And even more strangely, what appears to be a copyright strap at the bottom, but all end with "MMIII" (2003) whereas a similar strap appears on the 'buzzword' flashes (such as "VOMIT", "DESPERATE", "ELECTROCUTE", etc. etc.) ending with "MMVI" (2006).
Is it purely to make people think they've spotted a mistake and seen something they weren't supposed to? It looked that way the first time, but gets more and more obvious as time goes on. I still find it intriguing why they bothered to do it. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
* Mind you, Russell poking a plastic music-box dancer's legs into a piece of plastic dog poo whilst listening to a viewer's call about the veins in Lea's t|ts is surely pure class, and proof irrefutable that TV is all the better for the multichannel age and no regulation. Huzzah and hoorah. Still, nice to see TV that reviews itself live on-air.
