TV
I see which corner you are trying to back me into here, but for fear of repeating myself Pete has every right to be in the Big Brother house - PROVIDED he is there on his own individual merit, like everyone else there. Contestant selection must always be a level playing field, open to all genders, races, sexualities, physical ability, whatever.
Big Brother exploits ALL its participants to some degree, because at the end of the day it's about ratings and making money. I see few people are challenging my views about Shahbaz, the line had clearly been crossed there, so when a contestant with Tourette's syndrome is picked, it is not him I'm looking down on but the motivations of those who chose the contestants. The sad truth, again, is there are plenty of morons who'll find uncontrollable fits of swearing amusing and not care about Pete as a person.
With its undeniable influence, Big Brother could raise awareness of Pete's condition in a way that other programmes could not. And we'll all be better informed if it does.
My best wishes to Pete and I really hope his exposure makes a difference. But I stand by my original views - based purely on his welfare.

And what's your solution to that? To suggest that "Pete and others like him" be discriminated against and hidden away?
