Re: The Complaints Situation...
First of all, the Sun reported about the fact that Channel 4 could refund all voters who voted to vote housemates back in to the tune of £3 Million; secondly, the Sun have started up a petition asking for a fair Big Brother where losers can't win; and now, The Mirror's Polly Hudson speaks for the nation(!) when she says and I quote...
Quote:

SO 1,500 have complained about the BB twist?

Big whoop. We're just glad bosses are doing something to liven this dire series.

The best thing about Big Brother is that it has strict rules, but can change any of them any time they want.

That's what keeps it interesting. Personally, I ADORE the fact that the housemate voted back could pocket the £100,000.

It just makes the idiots who have put up with 11 weeks of BB torture look pathetic. Big Brother has had more calls for this twist than any other eviction this series.

So try keeping a straight face while you tell me fans are angry about it.

Now, I'm sure I understand Polly's way of thinking, but when she refers to idiots, does that mean us, the viewers, or the 1,500 complainers?

I'd love to see the Sun follow that! So, who's better: the Mirror (Idiots!!!!) or the Sun (Victims!!!!)?

There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!!!!!!

OK, let's vote Imogen out this Friday. Richard's more likely to want Nikki back than Imogen is.

From your quote, I read it as the housemates being the idiots.

I think you need to break the groups down more than you have though. You have the viewers and the complainers but you forgot the voters.

Certainly the voters are idiots, but we already knew that, right? The worst group are the complainers though. Not only did they waste their money voting in a TV show because the TV show told them to, they have now wasted their time complaining (and generating publicity for the same TV by the way) because a newspaper told them to.

These people lead their lives via the media, they want to be part of something. They don't want to feel left out. Its probably like a drug for them, with the high being the happiness they feel on a Friday evening when the person they voted for happens to leave (or re-enter) The Big Brother house. It doesn't last long though, they have to get another fix when the nominations are announced again the next Monday. These people are addicted.

I'm thinking about setting up a 0901 helpline number for them.

The whole thing is an unintersting twisted sham now. It's not really a game show if the winner is decided beforehand (or obviously intended for 2 or 3 of the 20+ involved).

Who would watch "The Weakest Link" if Anne Robinson fawned over a couple of contestants all the time, then allowed one that was removed back into the game after 10 mins to give them another chance?

The BB concept is really no different, except it's spread over 13 weeks and rakes in lots of cash from the voting public.

I wish people would stop complaing though! Endemol have done what they have. The result they want will be engineered (come what may), regardless of whether the public feel duped, misled, robbed or conspired against. Shocked

BB will go the way of all game shows at the end of the day. It's really not worth getting wound up over a group of talentless Z-List wanna-be-celebs. Rolling Eyes

Bad example - it's well known the voting tactics on the Weakest Link are generally decided in between rounds!

This situation is just the latest in a bitter campaign the Daily Star has been running against the show this year - the show which provides it with most it's front page stories durnig the summer!

Polly Hudson speaks for the genuine fan rather than those just on the bandwagon! Anyone who has seen the show before knows it's always a possibility evictees could make a return!

And actually, if you look back the clues were there in the very first eviction when Davina made a pretty innocent quip about whether Bonnie wanted to return!

Err, that's not true Brekkie unless things have changed drastically since I did the show.

There's nothing to prevent contestants chatting to each other prior to recording, but voting takes place immediately after the questions in each round and then are "locked" (in the case of the electronic podiums for the primetime shows), or are written down by the researchers in the daytime version.

Not that well known, that's the first time I've heard that Shocked , but I can't say I would die-in-a-ditch over it or fire off an Email to BBC/Ofcom about it - lol!

Well I don't read the DAILY STAR (or the BEANO for that matter) I prefer proper news from a Newspaper. But good on them for managing to sell a national daily to millions of people when their front page doesn't concentrate on anything more serious that a TV game show that everyone will have forgotten about in 3 weeks time.

Why, because Endemol have never done it before with BB-UK - other than to return Jon Tickle specifically as a "guest" in a previous series? Was there something issued at the beginning that I missed, or is there a subliminal message I haven't seen in the titles? Returning an evicted contestant to the competitiion is new and completely different.

I think Davina always asks that. If not intentional then it was spectacularly tactless on her part considering Bonnie wasn't invited back (because of her "legal issues" which already existed!).

Have last night's ratings been talked about?

Big Brother

Love Island

Also Imogen and Richard have moved next door until Friday. I reckon the housemate who isn't evicted (Richard Rolling Eyes ) will have to choose who goes back with him.

If this is the case, it could be Lea over Nikki, and that would really ruin things.

Endemol want Nikki back though, so I'm sure the twist will be decided at the very last minute to ensure she gets back by hook or by crook.

Looks like Glynn tried to do a series 3 (insert housemate name) by climbing onto the roof and escaping, in this case trying to get into the house next door. At a read he got sent to the diary room and will recieve his punishment on Friday. Prehaps he'll have to vote out / evict a second housemate or similar.

I hope he gets evicted. After what he said about Grace, 'she's a nice girl', he f-ing dereves to be booted out!
I feel so sorry for Aisleyne, she wants Nikki back in, but Nikki hates her...
