to name but a few...

Time Team I agree with; excellent show, brilliant team cohesion great viewing, but Channel 4 have MURDERED the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures! Ad breaks that ruin continuity, but this year took the custard cream, removing the lecture theatre! Perhaps it's because a lecture theatre on telly is too geeky, too learned or too brainy for Channel 4?

Dumbing down?

The editions that I saw over Christmas used the lecture theatre. It looked to be the same one that they've used over the past few years, except as they were looking at the antartic and everything, they did use many more clips and pre recorded material.

People also forget that Big Brother brings in a considerable amount of money for C4, which is put back into the channel. Without it, shows like The Boy whose Skin Fell Off might never have been made.

As I said in the opening post, 15 weeks is too long - I'd say 13 weeks is the absolute maximum. Also, I think any more than 13 housemates would be bad for the show as too many means you don't get to know them.

With 13 housemates, I'd have evictions begin in week 2 (like BB1/2). When 8 remain, they get a week off evictions in week 7. This gives them the chance to chill out a bit and forget about the game - and therefore the public the chance to see their real personalities. Evictions continue in week 8, with three remaining for week 13.

The article in The People also mentions viewers may choose the 12 housemates from a shortlist of 20 - although I'm sure they said that about BB5. I doubt that would happen, though it's more likely say 10 housemates would be sent in, with 2 or 3 more chosen by viewers.

I doubt they would put in an odd number of contestants like 13, because they tend to have an equal number of men and women, like when they increased the number of contestants from 10 to 12.

Looking at Channle 4's schedule they haven't showed Friends in a great deal of time since it ended, it is only ocassionaly repeated on T4 during the weekend, and that's because it appeals to teenagers.

Hmm. The problem with this is that having three people in the final week might make for a betterly timed live final, but it means the last week will be dull as anything to watch (this is why they've been steadily increasing the amount of people in the house for the final week over the years).

It will be interesting to see what they might do. I suspect they will find it difficult to give a week over to a non-eviction because there's normally a ratings spike on eviction nights.

How is it chav tv? Rolling Eyes
I think some people just blame them for everything. People from 10 to 80 or so like big brother!
It doesnt have a secular Chav appeal.

Well, for me personally I prefer the show when there are less people in the house. Series 1 had 3 in the last week, with 4 for series 2 and 3, and five for series 4 and 5. Five is too many IMO. Three or four is acceptable.

I do think though if the show was extended through to the end of August, it's possible the final could be on the August Bank Holiday, so an eviction would take place on the Friday, with three remaining over the weekend.

I hate Big Brother I don't understand the fascination of watching people for weeks on end. And as for showing it for 15 weeks, well that just proves Channel 4 is getting very lazy. What next Big Puddle? Hours of excitement as we watch a puddle form live on TV, sigh!

tvarksouthwest makes a very good point that the Station just isn't what it used to be. The schedules are constantly clogged with hours of pure rubbish like of BB, 100 Greatest and endless repeats of Friends and, no doubt, The Simpsons.

God alone knows what they are going to be putting onto More 4.... No More 4 would be more appropriate!
